Bob's Beeper:

Welcome! :clapping:

I would recommend you find an experienced friend to get started,:twodetecting: so they can show you the ropes. You will have a ton of fun.

And don't forget to fill up the holes you make!

Where are you located?

Welcome to the:detecting: forum.

the 550 was my first machine, i loved it.....should have kept it as a backup to my 1350.

I am new to metal detecting. Just ordered my GTAx 550 yesterday. What can I expect besides having fun?

A little frustration trying to learn the detector, dirty fingers, people staring at you, crowds of kids around you, an aching back, dehydration, lots of pull tabs, the wife saying are you going out detecting again and a big smile when you show her the gold ring you just found.

Read all the pasted post you can and learn all you can before your detector comes.

Welcome to the forum. Looking forward to seeing some of your first finds.:)

Be patient these machines have a learning curve. The good thing about that is after you get experienced you can rehunt the sites you started out with.

Great! I get up to Texas every so often. Usually over to Palestine and up to DFW area. Maybe we can get together to :twodetecting:!

Thanks to all for the great welcome. I am a lucky man my wife has always supported anything I wanted to do as long as it wasn't another woman.I am retired and have more time to learn the hobby. I am sure I will have lots of questions but right now I don't know enough to have any. Thanks again sounds like a good way to make a lot of new friends. /Bob -Georgetown, TX
