New Garrett detector is coming out for sure this year.

Yes, I called Garrett customer service yesterday and she definitly comfirmed that there is indeed a new VLF(not PI) detector coming out "this year sometime". All she said is it "will not" replace the GTI 2500 but be it's own detector. I have no other details.
(The 2500 has 25 discrimination cursers now and I hope they come up with a new detector with 50 or more discrimination options for more detailed discrimination like the Explorer II that has over 1000 options, 30+ X 30+.)
Does anyone know of anymore detailed information on what new "features and improvements" this new detector has that you can share with all of us, thank you?? <img src="/metal/html/confused.gif" border=0 width=15 height=22 alt=":?">

It is my understanding that the first one to come out will probably be in the mid price range.
Can't really say more than that, but hope to know soon.

When I called Garrett and asked why the GTAx750 had been discontinued I was told it was to make room for another detector in that price range.

That is correct!

If you look on page 30 of the 2004 Garrett catalog in the jargon definition section under "Audio Tone" it says: "The pitch or frequency of the sound made by a detector. The tone on the GTI 2500, 1500 and GPS 1350 detectors can be adjusted on a treble to bass scale."
GPS-1350?? haven't heard of a Garrett machine with that number yet.
GTA = Graphic Target Analyzer
GTI = Graphic Target Imaging
GPS = ?? - maybe Graphic Pulse System

you are very observant. I don't think anybody else caught that. I sure didn't notice it. However, I believe that the "GPS 1350" is a misprint and the GTAx 1250 should be inserted in its place. The GTAx 1250 is the only other Garrett detector still in production that allows you to adjust the audio tone on a treble to bass scale. HB

Bill from Oregon mentioned the GPS-1350 in a post on the Depot's Garrett forum so he deserves the credit for pointing it out.
Its funny I remember reading it when the catalog first came out but just thought it was a typo then myself. Now with the rumors of a new machine, I was wondering if maybe it just slipped through as whoever wrote that knew of the new machine and made an accidental reference to it.
But you make a good point by noting that the GTAx 1250 was left out though that seems like a fairly major typo to miss 3 letters instead of 4 the 1350 instead of 1250 I can easily see as a single typo.

I don't think I was the one that mentioned that. I was probably responding to another post where someone brought it up. I'm sure it was a typo to begin with.
Bill

I checked with Mary yesterday and she said it was a typo not a reference to an unreleased model. She also confirmed that "several new detectors" are on the way but didn't give any dates.

Hi guy, how you doing? Have you found any goodies lately?
Bill

I actually read about half of those posts before I noticed the dates. Good one. :)

Original post was May 2004 ...

Who went back and scrounged this one up?
Oh ... I see ... it was sniffy.

Dosnt the ACE 150 and 250 count as a new detector?
It came out a few years ago.

I just thought it was funny about the GPS, I have had a gti1500 for years and thinking of getting the AT PRO in the spring and was looking at the archives and found myself, I usually post under Caretaker Maine, but I can't remember my password so I re-registered, when I get my AT PRO in the spring , I was to know everything about it, you guys are great teachers :)
