New G2 arrived today (thanks Bart) and just wondered if anybody had any useful tips they can share? I will pretty much be using this on the beach in the dry/wet sand.

I'm not a beach hunter, but ground balance will be important (and must be done in all-metals mode). After that, you can either continue to hunt in all-metals mode, and threshold up as high as you need to go to get a low, continuous hum (if you want to see DEEP, but dig most all targets), or, you can switch to disc. mode, and set disc. at 40. That way, iron stuff will sound off with a low grunt, and anything non-ferrous (above 40) will give you "modulated VCO audio." You will really like this machine, I think. Easy to use, powerful, sensitive, and fun. Very light, and it does a GREAT job in a variety of hunting applications. You made a good purchase!
