I just bought a new Fisher Gold Bug 2 with 6 1/2 inch coil There was no protective skid plate on the coil. I contacted Fisher Labs and asked if this was normal but as yet have had no reply. The Skid Plate retail at $7US surely they can include one when you have just spent over $700 buying a New machine! How Mean can they be! All other machines I have bought new from other manufacturers have included them. I am disappointed Neilo
