NEW FISHER COILS

I want to try something new here. I would like to hear from everyone, their brother, AND their dogs. What size and type of search coils would you like to see, and for which models of Fisher Detectors?
To start it off, I'd like 5" loops for the EXCEL,C$ and EDGE. There is a loop called a "SHOOTER COIL", which is a 4"X6" elliptical coil out for Whites units, and it has a reputation of being a real killer in trashy areas. Due to Fisher's better target separation it should be even better on a Fisher. Also, the 14" loop for the Goldstrike is still in Limbo. A 5" to 6" Co-ax would be great because it is shielded from the top and sides from electrical interference, and it can be placed right next to a fence and work perfectly. The Co-ax is also a total scan so there is no dead spots, but at the same time it is a slow responding design, which might in some way aid in figuring target size.
Years ago FRL made a widescan for the 1200 series detectors. Give us something on the line of 7" X 9" or 10" X 12" elliptical loops, and make major cut-outs like Tesoro on their 10 X 12 umax detectors loops. That way their will be less drag in the water, and less bottom area for mud to collect on-you know what I mean if you have ever gotten into black gumbo mud, or red clay; and they would also be lighter.
Its not just Fisher that stands to gain, but Discovery, Coil-tech, Sun-ray and others. If we can prove there is a true market demand, someone will listen. They always do when $$$ talks.
SO JOIN IN.
-One final thought; the CZ is a GONER, so you might pick up an extra if you have any spare change. The day will come when CZs are few and the price is high-

I concur about the 5" for the new Fisher line especially the Coinstrike. It is too much to hope for but a coxial might also help with electrical interference(the C$ greatest weakness)much like the 6"Eliminator does for 6.59khz Whites machines.:blowup:

That's what I mean about speciality coils. Isn't the Eliminator made for Jimmy Sierra by other than Whites? It's not like there would be a major tooling change as the mandrells exist that are used to wrap these coils around. As to design, certain ones may require a small royalty, while others may be in the public domain.

we need to contact. The CEO: jchernekoff@fisherlab.com

Everyone needs to let him know the advantages of having these accessory coils, if for nothing else, that the competition has them. His argument is that they produce them, and then they don't sell. Let's show him he's wrong. There isn't any re-tooling needed for the 5", they already have everything but the windings. They've got the injection molds, and the necessary fixtures to wind the coils, and the cable, and the connectors, and the coil covers. What's the holdup? Who will be first, after me, to contact him?

Jimmy Sierra has a coil for the DFX, MXT called the Hotfoot and it's a DD 2"W x 9"L. I have a Goldfoot and is same size as hotfoot but it's for the 6.59 hz Whites and i like it better than a 5" for trash hunting. Why not get creative and not just say 5" concentrics and agree about perhaps a 3"x6" ,4"x7" or 6"x10" eliptical. Just my opinion and perhaps there could be better options for hobbiests who buy Fisher detectors. If they don't need my business so be it. HH Bill

Where do we get the ellipiticals for CZs and C$s-I'm with you, and I know there ia a great market for the stuff. And throw in a 6" co-ax.

Then sell us all the needed components, and let us build them ourselves.

I think Fisher is making a mistake in doing away with the line, but what bothers me with lifetime warranties how long will they have spare parts if needed for repair..

That's part of the reason for dropping them, parts availability. They have to have enough parts on-hand to be able to honor warranty service down the road. Many of the parts are either no longer available, or too cost prohibitive to continue manufacturing them. The future is digital whether we like it or not. I wish they still made the CZ6a. I wish Whites wouldn't have dropped the XL Pro either. I guess that's "progress".

Personally, I need a 5 inch coil for BOTH the C$ and the EDGE, so I'll be emailing the CEO to that effect. If I had to choose only one or the other, I guess I'd have to pick the C$, since I don't have any hands on experience with the EDGE (yet). It should arrive this week though. From a business point of view, they already KNOW how many C$'s are out there. They may have some idea from pre-sold Edge machines what the eventual market for those may be, but the C$ market would be the safer bet.
Just my .02,

A friend got his CZ back, with a new meter, one crystal some capicitors and a few other things. What ate him alive was the labor. Stock up on the 70PRO-the best of the best.
