NEW F5 FINDS ITS FIRST SILVER

Todd.

New member
Went out for an hour and almost didnt dig it because the numbers were everywhere but it sounded good. I figured i'm here to learn this machine and so I thought I might as well dig everything that sounded good. After a few trial and error moments with the semi frozen ground ground I popped it out and went on to find a couple of pieces of junk jewelry. I've hunted this schoolyard for years and really didnt expect to find anything but what the heck. Glad I did.

n/t

Thanks Elton, I sure wish those peices of jewelry were the real thing!

just wondern as i just got the f5 as my first detector,i have had a few hits that just jumped arond like a jack rabbit, guess i should of dug them huh? was youres jumpin from foil- quarter range with mid to high tone? learnin about metal deteting and new detector at the same time. but if i was gonna get one it wasnt gonna be junk so f5 it was

Just like a Jackrabbit! I kind of figured it may be due to several things, 1- I am not tuned in for the right conditions, although I ground balanced, the semi frozen ground may be shifting or distorting the signals. 2. This machine is very sensitive and I may be picking up small bits of junk that are nearby but small enough not to register on their own, just hitchin a ride with a good signal 3. my settings are incorrect for the ground although I ground balanced. 4. coin or object is at a weird angle
This is why when I popped that dime out I was utterly shocked because I was not expecting a dime. The detector did give a few mid to high tones, but then again she said she was foil. So when I got it out I put it on the frozen grass and played with the knobs until it rang true and sounded good. Those numbers I posted earlier were what evened things out. After that I got very little falsing and after digging quite a few "blind holes" before I made those changes, those "blind-empty holes" practically went away. Now the F5 acts almost identical to my XLT regarding pinpointing, If the signal is loud and strong while in motion but when the pinpoint button is pressed and I cant seem to find it, then it's a halo effect or junk. Thats the way it appears to me so far....but I've only had limited experience with this machine

Thanks Jim, It's pretty exciting for me considering I only find a couple a year!

Todd, double check that ring. I have found two rings like the one in your picture. Found them at an old house site. Cleaned up beautifully and turned out to be silver.

Its a full moon week, so that silver and gold gets pulled up a little, go and get some more!
Mud

Nice finds Tod

Thanks all! I'm getting ready to head out to a park in just a few moments with the family. It's pretty windy this morning and cold but I'll give it a go and Steve O I'll clean that ring up better when I get back and see what it really is

yea i know what u mean thier, had a few holes that rang in as quarter and ended up bein old beer cans, seems the f5 or mabey its all detectors not shue im new to this hobby, but if its metal or anything close to the surface it will over load the detecor and screen goes blank for a few. had some nails ring in as quarter and they wasnt very far under the surface less then a inch. and i aint shure about the pin point deal, seems thier is to stages of pinpoint on this thing. first time ya press pinpoint its at a wider span, let off and press again seems to be narrower pinpoint and alot of the times it wont pin point in that narrow phase, but will on the wider one. hope that makes sence shure ya ran into that one youerself. aslo do u got the dd coil or the eliptical one. i mean i did a penny pinpoint n house here and seemed to be on the tip of center, but out in the field seems to be more the center of oval. kinda confuseing haven trouble hittin the hole hahahaha
