i just traded x x x brand detector for a 705 havent received it yet but on the way. queston, does the 6 inch 18 kh dd coil have pretty good depth? for that will probley be my next coil im going to try to find a used one thanks for all input.

The 6 inch 18.75khz coil has great depth. It surprised me when I got one.

I think the depth is good on the 6"DD, I like it better than the 6x10DD. You also must find a 10.5DD it is a "Must Have" for any X-Terra user.

Depending on where you are hunting, the 6" is a great coil. I use it almost exclusively when hunting vacant lots and old house sites.

I have used all three coils and my favorite is the 5x10 coil in 18.75 khz, i have very mineralized soil sometimes running sensitivity at 8 or 10 and i don't seem to loose depth, very common to dig 8" for a coin and loves gold. The 6" DD is good for coins but not gold, it won't hit on most gold rings.

The 5x10 used very slowly i thank is as good as the 6"DD in my area

Just a shout out for BART at Big Boy Hobbies, if you haven't called him and done business with him i encourage you to do so, he is a true friend and will go out of his way to help you get the right tools for detecting. Give him a call today!!

The 6" HF coil in my soil gets pretty good depth. Don't rule out the 6" Coiltek coil. I think it's just about the best coil of any size on the market. Everyone's soil conditions are a little different and I've used mine in a couple of states and I'm still amazed at the results. I think the 6" HF Minelab coil is a pretty close 2nd and definitely a keeper.

digger45 you said the 6 inch dd wont hit on gold rings. or you talking about the low or high freq/ coil? the high freq. dd should hit good on gold.

The 6" HF will hammer gold within the depth range that a 6" coil is good for. The 6" LF "Digger" can find gold (a couple of us have more than once), but it wouldn't be my coil of choice for that task. And mass as well as depth would also play a bigger part with the 3kHz coil.
