New Explorer XS

I finally did it! After months of going back and forth trying to decide which is the best detector I bought the Explorer. It will be here Monday...I haven't been able to sleep since I placed the order.
I hope you don't mind too many questions as I am sure I will have more than a few.
After reading all the positive posts on the Minelab forums I decided this would be the best detector for my needs.
I'm getting 3 coils with it. What would be the best all purpose? The standard 10.5", the 8" or the 5"? I will be mainly coinshooting.

Don't think you will be dissapointed.
Takes some time to learn but is well worth the effort.

Excellent, welcome to the world of the Explorer. Its a hard machine to master and Im no expert but ive learned a lot from readin the posts here.

Hi - You made a great choice with the Explorer. Was it the S or the XS model? Either one is great! We all look forward to seeing the posts of your finds and any questions you have will be cheerfully answered by the wonderful people on this forum. I know because I had my share of questions when I got my XS. And all these folks are experienced users who can and will give you a lot of useful tips. Congratulations, and HH Jim

Tony,
The coil I use most for my coin hunting is the X 8 of Sunrays as most of my parks are moderate trash with the 8 inch does well. Now if I was in a cleaner area where targets are not close together I use my X12 as it is lighter than the stock coil and better coverage. I probably use the stock coil the least, but if you dont have the X12 than the stock coil would be my second choice of coils after my 8 inch. The 5 inch coil I would uses in the trashier areas after i went over them with the 8 inch coil.
Good Luck with the Explorer as it is quite the detector for those that have the patience to learn it.
Rick

For first learning the machine, the 8 inch coil might be the best choice simply because the pinpointing chores will be easier to master. You may want to consider adding the X-1 probe to your package as this will make a BIG difference in the pinpointing and the whole detecting success in general. Good luck and we'll try and help you as best as we can with your future questions. HH, Mike.
