Hello,
I just uploaded a few stuff I wrote to a web site. I think it may help some people on how to use the explorer. Most of the stuff on there is from people on this forum. I just put it together. Hope it helps.

With deep on you will detect very small pieces of trash on or near the surface. I don't mind hearing those little ticks from the hits because I feel I'm not missing anything. I have fast off because I pretty much dig everything. If you were working a part of the beach that is loaded with trash and you didn't have much time to detect and you were cherry picking than having fast on would be a lot of help.
When using the Explorer on the wet sand I go against the norm on using sensitivity. I run semi-auto 28 with my gain at 9. I seem to have better luck using this set up for the wet sand when using the Explorer.
I prefer to use my Sovereign/Wot combo in all metal or my Goldquest at the beach.

i have sovereign with 12" sunray along with excal, but i have never used a machine like the exp II on the beach, i think it is the best beach machine out.
it is somewhat weak in the surf zone (weak meaning construction) but i am changing for the up coming summer season now............building h20 box and new coil.................
goldquest...........i had aquasearch last summer for 3 months............it was a very very nice detector and it was built better than any detector i have every been around as well, but va beach is not the place for any P I especially an Eric Foster one
