New Explorer 2 on the way

cloctor

New member
Well I sold my Whites XLT and ordered the Explorer 2. It should be here Monday. Can someone give me some advice on getting aquainted with this machine? Thanks for the help.

Read the manual and do as it says. Watch the tape if you got one. They sent me two tapes. (I read it twice and watched tapes twice before I started it up).

Use in factory preset mode to look for coins and pay close attention to how the detector behaves.

Keep the coil close close close to the ground. Pay most attention to the sounds not the screen. Learn what good targets sound like.
Watch how the different screens behave over targets you find.

Practice with known targets.

Don't just assume you know the machine cause you have used many other machines. This is different.

If your think'in air test..........well thats up to you,but the EX II don't air test for.......well.....you know. Plant yourself a test garden, read, read, read the manual and pay close attention to your machine (sounds not the screen) There won't be a day go by that you won't learn sumpth'in new! Patients is the key!

I used to have a DFX. I can tell you that a slower sweep speed will help you with the EX11. Expect a lot of sounds, this is normal. Good luck

AK has it right, (sweep slow) it will seem like you are going to slow compared to the XLT but the slower you go the better the Explorer can pick thru the good and bad targets. HH:detecting:

If you haven't already download the Explorer 2 user manual from Minelab

Use the quickstart until you get the hang of it..Secret of Explorer is the tones. I know I swung a silver dime over and over the coil until it was imbedded in my brain. Now going across a field the tone will stop me in my tracks..Of course you may be a relic hunter, beach hunter but same thing applies to what you are looking for. Learn what every particuliar facet does and then experiment..Don't get fancy, be patient and all will fall into place. I feel Andy's book would help also....Definetly a learning period and time varies greatly depending on individual...and a local mentor will cut it in half...
