New Excalibur Swinger

John in Toronto

New member
Hi all. My first post here although I have been reading these forums for quite a while.

After a lot of research for a new water machine ( I currently have a cz-20 and a X-Terra 70 )I decided on the Excalibur 1000. Just seems like it is the best water detector around. People that have them, keep them.

Mine arrived on Tuesday. I also got the alkaline battery holder and that's what I am using.
When I first turned it on I was not sure it was working properly....what's all that buzzing??. Then I started to read "Finding Gold, Silver and Coins with the Minelab Sovereign and Excalibur" by Clive James Clynick. What a great book that is and I highly recommend it for anyone starting out with the Excalibur.
It really explains the tones so I could understand what was going on.

I took it to Bluffers Park tonight just to try it out on the beach. All I found was 3 pennies and a nickel but I was really just learning the tones. Anyway, I am real happy with the detector and will be in the water on Saturday, looking for that gold tone.
I have also ordered the "Balanced Shaft".

I grew up in the Beaches/Bluffs area and the water is usually pretty nasty at Bluffer's Park so not much swimming going on. Now the Beaches might just do the trick for you. Good Luck with the new Excal, I think mine is the bomb.

Thanks guys.
The reason I went to Bluffers Park was because I am close to it ( 7 minutes drive), only had about an hour to spare and I did not go in the water. I just wanted to test out what I had read in the book I mentioned.

My serious water hunting is done a little north of Toronto, as well as the old favourites, Wasaga and Sauble beach area. Made some nice finds with my CZ-20 and am hoping the Excalibur will be even better.

I am heading up to Pefferlaw tomorrow morning for a good tryout in the water.

Good visibility, nice sand and lots of waist to chest deep water to work on. Who knows maybe you'll find some casino cash while your at it.

HH,

Welcome John to the family who use the "best of the best" water detectors. You will do well, and end up loving your Excalibur. Congratulations on an excellent decision and purchase. :minelab::thumbup:
