I bought a new Excalibur as a spare detector as my other Excalibur is out of action, (I broke my headphones). I had a gig tonight in Newquay, so I left early and went to Fistral beech. I had been detecting for about 10 minutes when this guy comes running up to me. He said his friend had lost her wedding ring, could I please come and help them find it.
We walked back to where the unfortunate lady and her husband had been sat. She had put the ring on her sisters bag, she said, and her sister had just picked up the bag, and sent the rings flying. There were marks where they had just been running their fingers through the sand hoping to find the rings
I told them that I felt confident that unless they had unwittingly trodden it down and then thrown sand on top, I would be able to find it. I started at the foot of the bank and worked up horizontally. I got about halfway up the bank and got a sweet full signal. It took two goes, but then I had the target in my sand scoop. I shook out the soft sand and there was a nice platinum ring.
The lady's face was shining, it was hers. She looked happy, but there was something more, I could see it in her eyes.
She said that was her wedding ring, but she had also lost her engagement ring at the same time.
I did an expanding circle search pattern from the wedding ring, and about 40cm away I had another sweet signal. It was a beautiful platinum ring with a single diamond.
I took it out of my scoop and held it in my hand.
"What's your engagement ring like then" I asked her.
"The same as the wedding ring, but with a nice diamond" she said.
"Is this it?"
I opened my hand and held it up.
Her face lit up and she was very happy
Her husband gave me
