I ordered my first Minelab last week and because of the bad weather its been delayed a day or two.

Also got a Garrett Pro Pointer and Andy's book... can't wait to thoroughly read the book. Already downloaded the Etrac's manual and I can already tell you I'll be starting out with the simple settings.

Hopefully I can take some time off next weekend to go out and try my new Etrac at my parents old family farm.

Its a great machine you will love it ! Good Luck !

Hi Bridger,

I know how you are feeling. I got my new E-Trac last week and could not go out because of the snow on the ground. Now the snow is starting to melt and I can see some bare spots on the ground, however, I ended up getting a blood clot in my leg and now I cannot walk due to the swelling and pain. Not sure what's worse, the blood clot or not being able to get out and do some MDing.

There are some really good suggested patterns (coin, relic, beach) in Andy's book that you may want to play with. Since I could not get out and do anything, I've been playing with my exchange software loading new modes and patterns. I have 2 coin, 2 relic, and 2 beach patterns loaded and ready to go when I can get out. Another thing you can do is watch some video's on youtube or MLOTV. There are tons of instructional video's that will add on to the knowledge that you've gained through Andy's book.

Good luck with your new machine - hold on to your hat !

Good luck with the E-Trac, mine is on the truck for delivery today. I already have the Pro-Pointer and like it, and Andys book also... Great Book with Lot's of info and well done.

I have had to wait two whole weeks for it to get to here, New Zealand, ...now its stuck in customs...waiting, waiting

yeah! Its assembled, adjusted, and the battery is charging! Andy's book is great - still reading it though. My old Bounty Hunter Landstar doesn't even compare with the Etracs overall balance and build. It fits great on my arm.

Thinking about getting a gps to keep track of areas that I'll be hitting soon! Any model suggestions appreciated from you seasoned MDers!

Steve- hope your health gets better soon so you can go out with your Etrac!

Some advice . . . work slowly and listen carefully. Try to get used to being able to audibly ID targets above 12-44 and the lows between 12-4 to 12-16 WITHOUT looking at the visual ID all the time. Eventually you will find that "Sound" (Multi) is everything on the ET. I see way too many people working too fast with the ET, it will sniff out some really nice, deep targets if you work slow and methodically. To get used to hearing the low conductor targets (Gold, Aluminum, etc), load the Jewelry Program and dig all possible nickels at 12-13 to 12-16 (Most are at 12-15 on the pro coil, Target ID will vary with different size coils, especially the SEF's).

Best of luck with the new ET!
