new Etrac in 2 days!

I ordered my new Etrac yesterday and it should arrive in 2 days, on Saturday. I downloaded the instruction manual and read half of it just now. I got my Xterra 705 about 3 months ago (first detector) and already decided to upgrade...crazy huh? This is actually a third detector since I ordered a Fisher F2 for my GF to use sometimes and to take with me is someone, like my dad, wants to go with me. My girlfriend thinks I am nuts and I have OCD...LOL!

I am glad I got the 705 as my first detector before I ordered the Etrac. I am now familiar with a lot like the pinpointing, discrimination, notch, multi-tones, etc., so I can now learn and focus on the advance features which set the Etrac apart from the 705.

I am sure everyone has the local park or spot they hit and have cleaned out, and I can't wait to hit the couple near me and see what more I can find in spots I thought i hunted out with the 705.

The Etrac is not light and I heard you have to swing slow. I am probably going to sell the 705 and the F2 and get one good lighter-weight, fast swinging detector to compliment the Etrac. I took the F2 out a couple times and it was fun using something different occasionally. Anyone else do that?

Any ideas on a good, fast swinging, lighter-weight detector? $700-$1200 range?

I was thinking anywhere from a DeLeon or an F75 or ????

I got a Teknetics G2 yesterday and the Teknetics Omega 8000 couple weeks ago they weigh 2 1/2 lbs each you can swing them all day and they like a fast sweep speed. Your Dad and Girlfriend will like them very simple setup almost turn on ground ballance and go.

The G2 is so amazingly fast with dual processors loves items hidden in trash or iron and hits on very small items like gold chains and jewlery/coins. I went over this ballpark I've been gridding with the E-Trac and my At-Pro this summer with the new G2 yesterday and found a buffalo nickel and a silver war nickel hidden in all the iron trash. Go to you-tube and check out the videos on these 2 machines both are a great compliment to the E-Trac and I got the Garrets At-Pro for water hunting but use it on land also because it is also good in iron trash.

The Omega8000 I used later in the day yesterday same ballpark and hit on a 1944 silver washington quarter 6in deep in ash where they used to throw out all the stuff out the back door of the houses years ago like cooking ashes etc. Been over this spot with the E-Trac and At-Pro also but must have given too much of a trashy signal so I didn't dig it up all rusybrown and black from iron. Blew me away as I LOVE MY E-TRAC and I have 2 of them tradded all my older detectors in for a second one last year after trying the first one out 2 years ago.

So far at this ballpark this summer doing the old ballfield part only and there is a couple of other parts to hit over next few years (did a small part in back street area last year) just a few hundred yards down the street from my house. I have found If memory serves me well 1 silver washington quarter yesterday, 6 silver war nickles so far, 7 or 8 mercuries, 2 rosies, 4-5 buffalo nickels and 3 silver rings one a big thick honking mens ring it rang as a quarter on the E-Trac 12-46-47

Congratulations on your new E-Trac! About girlfriends and wives, most probably do think we're nuts. But, we are having fun in our own little detecting world. Remember with the E-Trac... GO SLOW, swing slow, dig about everything till you get the hang of the sounds and numbers(they will surprise you ). Enjoy and if the girlfriend complains, tell her your trying to make both of you rich....one coin at a time :detecting:
