New England beach hunting question

I am looking for advice from some seasoned vets on what kind of detector to buy. I hunt mostly MA and NH beaches and have an at pro but want to get a real salt water machine. Was wondering if people that hunt these areas would recommend a pi unit or an excal. Just curious how much iron is in the water in this area and if anyone out there that hunts these areas could chime in. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Do not get a PI if you hunt new england beaches...lobster pot parts will drive you insane. That an too much iron. Go vlf. Do you wade at all? I assume you do...that would be excal. Or cz 21. a few other machines. hh an gl. -Joe

An Excalibur would be the first choice for hunting those beaches. I have used an XS with some degree of success on the same NE MA and NH beaches but I know I would have taken much more out of the water with an Excal. Be careful with the beaches on the North Shore. Some of the little towns are very touchy about non-residents on "their" beaches. The police will ticket your vehicle if you don't have a resident sticker. that's going to be particularly true as the weather warms up. I have usually gone to these beaches on rainy days and there is uually no issue. Good hunting!
