New E-Trac Coming

Hello my name is Bruce and I have been using a XTerra 705 for about a year and ordered an E-Trac last night but It will be a week before my dealer is back in town and be able to get it to me and take me out for a hunt to help get me started. Just wanting to say Hello and looking forward to learning it and being part of this board too ... Love my little XTerra and digger coil but I'm sure this is going to be a whole new world.

The 705 was my primary detector too, before I got an Etrac. I still have and will keep my Xterra always. I have made a lot of good finds with it.....many firsts. You will really love the Etrac. Just read and approach it slowly at first, it's not the horrible complicated beast some people make it out to be. Having said that...I am still learning. But it can be as complex or simple as you want to make it......I guess thats what I'm trying to say. Congratulations!!!!

Congrats on getting a Etrac. I came from the Garrett AT, which I liked, but , at least for me the Etrac was easier to
learn. The best way I can describe it is it seemed to seperate and catorgerize targets a lot better and clearer. With the help you are getting from your dealer, you will not have a problem in understanding it better. Have fun !

Congratulations...

You are going to love the E-Trac...

I got one Jan 8th of 2014 and have already found 4 silver coins with it...
1945P nickle, 1958 rosie, 1919 merc, and a 1945 washington...

I've always wanted to try the E-Trac and can't believe how easy this detector is to use...

Must admit I owe my early success to the members here for their time in posting settings and videos of their hunts... :beers:

I'm used to the lightning fast response of my F75, but absolutely enjoy swinging the E-Trac at a slower pace, listnening to the threshold, and letting this sweet machine direct my digger to a spot of this planet where I should cut a plug...

I had a 705 as well.....good machine but I could just not "connect" with it. The Etrac has been great....no comparison in my opinion. I have so much confidence in what it is telling me plus the depth is fantastic. I guess this stuff should be obvious for the price difference between the machines, but it truly makes detecting more enjoyable for me. Congrats!!!!!!

it took me a week for the 705 to really click with me and when I put the Coiltek 6" Digger coil on there it became a coin killer but knew it was still missing some things. I didn't like the stock coil at all but with that little 6" 3kHz DD coil it was like night and day a different machine.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your new machine ! :detecting:

Congrats on the Etrac! It seems everyone has their own way of learning the Etrac. I got mine about 6-7 weeks ago. The first thing I did was to load the Bill_S park (coin) pattern. I run it slow slow slow. The stock coin pattern and the Andy S pattern were just to noisy for me to get a handle on it. After several hunts, I started using the Andy S pattern, when the ground wasn't so trashy.
Watch all the youtube Etrac videos and read this forum. If you have any questions about anything, come in here and just ask, these guys WILL have the answers! Good luck, you are going to LOVE it!

For me it was just getting into the menu to learn its functions after I got that it really was guite easy to use . I enjoy my hunting with it. You will learn a lot about it here on this forum. Welcome

Thanks ... I'm sure I will have lots of questions in the near future. also going to get either the Minelab 8" or Sunray X8 coil, I like the reviews better on the X8 but my dealer has a used ML 8" that I can get a good deal on so might go with that

Does that mean it has an audible threshold in a discrimination mode? Can you be running a disc pattern and have the threshold up just loud enough to hear it, so any interruption in the threshold can indicate something at the edge of detectability that wouldn't register otherwise?

It sure does... Just make sure you swing the coil slow enough so you can hear the threshold as much as possible...

Just got it today and had a short hunt with my dealer in a lot I have pounded and did manage to find a clad dime and copper penny ... quite a bit of a learning curve but I will get the hang of it.

You won't be disappointed. The ETrac sees a lot the XTerra can't see in trashy spots.

I still have my XTerra 70 and won't ever sell it. I just rarely ever use it though.

so my 8x6 SEF just got here. Thinking I need to do the regular reset on it before I take it out next time is that correct ?

The E-Trac is a deep silver killer.

Now I've got my coils, If I could only get the ground to thaw!
