new DTI version?

I heard a rumor there is going to be a new version of the TDI detector. I was going to buy one soon, but if a new one is coming out, I will wait. Has any one else heard that rumor???

There's a report somewhere that the two new versions were on display at the Vegas gold show so it might be worth hanging on to gain the extra adjustability.

Hi Lt4ever.
Don't wait get your TDI and get out there hunting and learning now. The current TDI can be upgraded to the TDI Pro. Carl at Whites told me that the TDI can be upgraded no problem. It could be months before they are out for sale to the general public.the Pro will have an added GB Pot for finer GB control, a volume control for the threshold, tweaked for smaller gold nuggets and a Mono coil in place of the Dual Field coil sell for 100.00 more. The TDI II will not have the dual tone switch and a fixed GB, with the Mono coil sell for around 100.00 less than today's TDI. This may change but I don't under stand why they would fix or even go to a non adjustable GB????

That is what I figured but the then the Dual Field PI 300 is made for wet sand right.

It's not a fixed ground balance. It just No ground balance adjustment. By the nature of the way a pulse induction detector works, in most places one does not need to ground balance.

They Do Not Work like VLF detectors where the VLF needs it's circuit to cancel the ground affects before it can perform. A VLF unit is like a telephone, (if I can use it for a simple explanation). It operates in a Duplex mode, sending & receiving at the same time.

Back to the telephone explanation. The PI operates in a simplex mode, like a 2 way radio. First talk, release button, then listen. The difference between the talk & listen is called the Pulse Delay. On a PI unit, the effects of the ground are long gone before the receiver turns on to listen for the returned signal, ( well in most cases it is ).

Now I made it sound simple, but there's a lot of "ifs" left out. Most PI's don't have any provision for ground balance in the circuit design, but in some cases it's needed.
