in march a discriminating pi detector should come on sale in France .
the discrimination should work as trustful as with a VLF detector .
hope some of you guys can read french & will explain/translate to the other forum readers .

A INNOVATING CONCEPT It appears that since the Seventies the
apparatuses proposed on the market underwent very little evolution
at the technological level, in particular on the fundamental powers.
Only gadgets without real effectiveness were added to the wire of
time. The team thus worked with an aim of being able to satisfy most
demanding of the prospectors, to start with them same. It appears
that they created a machine worthy of interest at the technological
and practical level. TITANIUM SYSTEM can henceforth say that at the
present time we achieved our goal and even exceeded it to us. One
can speak about technological projection not only for the machine
which was developed, but also in physical laws which were discovered
on this occasion. It was unthinkable a few years ago to be able to
distinguish and to clearly index various metals of the mineral
layers which are present in the ground, By carrying out that, the
company TITANIUM SYSTEM makes it possible thanks to its new range of
metal detectors to discover new feelings and to carry out new lucky
finds. CARACTERISTIQUES The Adonis is equipped with a large screen
128*64 pixels, which confers a great visual analysis to him. Its
design made of this apparatus one of best designed hitherto in the
category of the metal detectors. The power of detection lies in the
fact that it works in pulsated induction...; The fact that the
adonis has a "True discrimination in pulsated induction" is well one
of the major projections of this product. This technique makes it
particularly insensitive with the ground effects and other waste
mineral which is present in great quantity in our ground. The
apparatus also makes it possible to differentiate very precisely,
using libraries stored in memories, objects and natures of well
defined metals. One can also analyze, index, record, compare like
posting the various targets. For the specialists, discrimination
will be as reliable as that based on technique "VLF" (very low
frequency). The adonis also lays out: - Of an infra-red port, for
the exchange of programs as well as the exchange of the libraries of
objects recorded by the user. - Of a helmet without wire to be able
to detect and dig with complete freedom. (in option) - It contains
also a small clock with an internal pile of safeguard to very long
autonomy, several years, which will enable him to post the hour of
the detector without updating the latter to each time the battery is
removed. - the apparatus can record thanks to this clock all the
targets at the time of a detection at a hour given. One can thus
locate interesting metal concentrations and draw them on a provided
software (in measurement or the prospector carries out straight
lines on the surface of detection). (tallies in option) Moreover it
will be equipped with a port USB which will allow him: - on the one
hand to download on this official Internet site of the libraries of
objects - in addition programs and the handing-over at days of the
versions of the aircraft, it will also be useful for the sending of
the data captured on a ground. The apparatus is equipped with 3
powerful processors as well as several memories. Its disc of
revolutionary detection further increases its power and its
precision. It is new technology FCT (Flat Coil Technology)

Apparenty the deleloper has ran into some type of snag and a release date has been pushed back.

hey , thanks bob for the translation .
hope Eric Foster reads this & can also make a PI with real discrimination . maybe the two can get the heads together & give us what we're waiting for for all these long years ... PI depth with the possibility of discriminating the iron out .

I have never heard of any French work on detectors, I wouldn't hold my breath! The Pulse Devil should be tested next month and it may hold promise. Also, the Goldscan will tell you, you have iron already! Don

I heard about this detector about six months ago. Somebody posted info on this Forum on 9/30/2006

There has been no new info since that time, nor have any test results been published...

My translation from the French can be found at:

http://www.golddetector.info/other_detectors/Adonis.htm

I agree with Don...

O.K. I remember this now! it reads very good, also it just describes in part what a PI detectors does, but the recording part is correct, of course, accomplishing it is a big order. The designer has apparently hit a snag, whic isn't surprising, the job of writing software to do what they propose and merge it with the operation of a PI is indeed a big job!!! Don

Never heard of any French work on detectors !
The only big success in the detection world for years has been the French XP brand. I've got two myself.
The Adonis was demonstrated back in May of last year and was licensed in January of this. March is the new date for the launch. They have suffered the same as Dave Emery with the push from prototype to finished product being a real nightmare.

there's also a French forum , just for the Adonis .

Its interesting and with technology with the way it is, the processors now a days can do many things in regard to programming functions and the like. I only WISH that some companies in the states would produce a good/ great "PI" that can discriminate/ ignore iron and go deep in bad ground. Visual indicators are great, however that isn't necessary. As mentioned a few weeks back, in my neck of the woods many historical sites are being obliterated do to construction of new homes, this includes historical camps, skirmish, and battle sites. Hundreds of camps have been destroyed in the past three years alone. So the setup is, these areas are hunted out, most of the targets are beyond the fringes of current VLF detectors, and the areas are littered with IRON nails. Once construction hits the area- hundreds of diggers show up, find many relics and two months later- a new Pizza hut is born, at a price! So for any MFR- who reviews these posts- PLEASE produce a decent, well priced pulse machine that can avoid small and medium iron, go deep in mineralized soil and pull up good targets! (The french machine looks good!!!)

Christian,
What you want in a discriminating Pi is exactly what Dave Emery is hoping to achieve with his Pulse Devil. This is very close to being finalized. For further details refer to posts on my forum:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ProspectinginOz/ and to bring up all the posts on the Pulse Devil type the words Pulse Devil into the search box on the opening page. If you have any questions about the Pulse Devil then by joining my forum you can talk to Dave directly.

I have been told i was a total idiot a few years ago for even thinking about the idea. Now it seems people are working on a discriminating pulse. I hears it is a technical impossibility to make such a detector, not been an expert on metal detector design i can't say if its true.

I thought the garret infinitum pulse machine has a discrimination circuit? at least thats what their adds say,,waynebo:wiggle:

MAYBE it only works for the FRENCH, in FRANCE, especially after being well lubricated by at least two liters of wine, or a liter of Courvoisier Cognac {at a minimum}. As for a photo of THE DETECTOR, by example you can go to Lackland Air Force Base and see an SR-71 Black Bird. Of course its been totally gutted so its only a mock-up. Seriously though, George Paine told me you could not make a discriminating P.I. because it has no phase angle. { George also said some revolutionary strides had been made with P.I.s, but they were priced far beyond the hobbyist market} Mr Bill and Bakergeol can tell you about the Ferrous Hound which works on both P.I. and VLF units, and only signals on ferrous objects-if it remains silent it is conductive. And it can be set up for audio signal, or metered readout. It can be turned on all the time, or on a momentary basis. If you are using one of Eric's, or Minelab's MONSTER P.I.s{with little or no ability to identify ferrous/non ferr} this is a very serious if not absolute addition. They work especially well on a DD loop. Bakergeol told me its not really needed on a GS-5 because it identifies {classifies} by tone to depth-it does not discriminate.
AND for what its worth, ERIC IS WORKING ON A NEW GENERATION P.I.!
To all of you P.I. hunters, LES TEMPS BON TON ROULEZ ET BON CHANCE!

Bon Jour Monsieur Vlad,

Do you remember me? As I recall, we had a heated discussion about warding off the evil influences of hot rocks with a wreath of garlic on the search coil. Well, it didn't work...

I see that you take the words of the Old Master Payne as Gospel Truth.

Probably because of his long-time association with metal detectors.

I do give him credit for his good work, but I disagree with the statement that discriminating P.I. Detectors can't be made...

And as a real old-timer, my experiences with demodulating circuits
pre-date George by about ten years. If you don't believe me, click on the link below...

http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsearch-adv.htm&r=3&p=1&f=G&l=50&d=PTXT&S1=(Westersten+AND+Payne)&OS=Westersten+AND+Payne&RS=(Westersten+AND+Payne)

I'm the third reference on the list. Oh shucks, now I've blown my cover. My real name is Allan Westersten. I've been hiding behind various pseudonyms, trying to stay anonymous, so that I won't get hate mail from various detector manufacturers...
(That's about to happen some time this year, I fear.)

Yes, there have been strides in P.I. technology and I believe that the
new detectors will be affordable. Most of the development cost has been underwritten by industrial users...

This is the Year of the PI, as my Fortune Cookie said...stay tuned.
