New time is 8:30 PM CST with the next new episode premiering Wednesday. Tune in to see some cool detecting and good times on TV with Fisher, Teknetics, Minelab, Tesoro and Garrett metal detectors all in action finding some really cool artifacts being dug! Full episode and 3 minute teaser reels available on the Travel Channel website just go there and search Dig Wars to pull up the vids.
Enjoy!
(if you dont want to watch the super cool CTX 3030 in action in the show and show intro don't tune in)

Thanks,
Dig Deep!

Mike

Very good show Mike. Many different machines being used.

The tall guy is using an old Explorer, why not a CTX? My CTX was much better than my Explorer. The husband and wife team know what they are doing but again one of the other teams have shovels that don't fit the job. Overall I like the show mostly because we have so little to choose from but I wish more detail would be given to repairing holes properly, etc.

I hope you don't take this too personally Mike because the producers has more to do with the final product than who is actually doing the hunting, but the show stinks from the dubbed in (wrong) audio to the inflated worth of the finds and most of what is in between. Shows like this are an accident waiting to happen to the metal detecting hobby.

I understand the producers wanting to make TV shows and I understand the people in it wanting their 15 minutes of fame (perceived). I even understand the manufacturers wanting to sell more detectors to people who want to get rich treasure hunting and of course the network wants to sell ads...... this is what makes the world go around.

As far as our hobby goes, we are already seeing repercussions of closed to hunting parks, public property and even some private property from previous (and present) TV shows about metal detecting conveying the wrong messages to the general public from destroying/defacing property to stealing valuables out of the ground.

I also understand any realistic metal detecting TV show would be very boring and would never sell to the networks so everything has to be enhanced......... and that is the part that will hurt us all in some way......... and the future of the hobby.

I do not like them,I am being asked by owners what percentage they get if I am allowed to hunt on their property.I have almost given up on knocking on doors.Easier to pay off reality agents.I feel these shows do me no good. The only good thing is when we split what I have found at end of the day I tell them the inflated price like on TV,every Indian is worth 20 bucks.

ITS A T.V. SHOW, thats all it is.

I'm a metal detecting freak, so yeah... I like the show. Mike and Ron and everyone else are stellar hunters that have helped move the hobby forward and helped all of us rookies learn the ropes. I agree the producers should try to capture the real sounds as it can be annoying. Although this show still revolves around the prices of the items I feel that it has done a better job at portraying the values of the items found. I plan on learning from what all of you guys are saying when I make my videos. Now... If I could just get people to watch them I'd be doin alright :heh:

I agree with Larry (IL) the show is just horrible. I just got into this hobby just 6 months ago, and even I knew the sounds from the detectors were wrong, the guys were swinging their detectors WAY too fast to be effective and the stupid stunts like throwing out modern pennies and messing with the adjustments on someone else's machine while their back was turned was just too much for me. When this hobby is redirected from the cause of helping to save history, to the cause of making a buck it really hurts us all.

I understand some of you may know some of the show participants on a personal level, and this isn't a slam on any of them, I blame the producers for trying to inject more drama into a hobby that already has enough of it's own!

I agree. The funny this is a lot of people will jump on the band wagon and go out and buy metal detectors, however metal detecting does take patience and effort. Once most of these noobs go detecting and get their first mosquito bite, sun burn and pull tab they'll put their detector in the corner and hang their hat on it. One good thing that will come out of this is that you'll see lots of good metal detectors and accessories on ebay for cheap.

I watch my first show last night kinda silly but its all about the money. MHO to say a show will put my hobby in the danger is silly to me it was long before this show was produced . I love to hunt an fish and there are tons of shows about those hobbies. Its only gonna affect those that let it effect them. My wife and I detect parks alot only to pick up more trash than the guys that work for the park in rec. Why you ask? becuase its the right thing to do and isnt no tv show gonna change it. The people that make up these shows dont care about nothing but money. I say if anyone had the chance to be on a show they wouldnt think twice about doing it . I was raised with the GOLDEN RULE and still live by it. , But lets face it its a diffrent world today and a sad one at that.
