Cool new show on the Travel Channel---Dig Wars
New time is 8:30 PM CST with the next new episode premiering Wednesday. Tune in to see some cool detecting and good times on TV with Fisher, Teknetics, Minelab, Tesoro and Garrett metal detectors all in action finding some really cool artifacts being dug! Garrett ProPointers are used throughout the episodes-----best digging accessory made!!!!!!
Full episode and 3 minute teaser reels available on the Travel Channel website just go there and search Dig Wars to pull up the vids
Enjoy!
(if you dont want to watch the Garrett ProPointer in action don't click or tune in)

Thanks,
Dig Deep!

Saw the first three or four episodes. It's OK. About like the others. I wonder if they need a guest detectorist?

Fun to watch the finds but like the other shows it gives an unrealistic view of what the hobby is really about. Research, getting permission, pop tops, rusting iron and getting skunked are also part of the hobby. These are seasoned detectorists that are going to sites that are out of the reach of most of us. I love the hobby but all the shows make it look easier than it is.

I have a felling they pay more to hunt those sites than they will ever make.

I dont like it personally. They talk alot about monetary values of their finds. Gives us all a bad rep.

Yep and its just talk. Don't see anyone buying for what they are saying they are worth. Just like the Diggers. So many things on these shows that just are staged.

Why do these detectorists(ones on the shows) think we need a audience? I cannot think of anything positive for the metal detecting hobby from these shows.

A lot of people buy machines after watching these shows so it is good for the manufacturer, but it is not what the hobby is truly about. It takes time, patience and persistence to be proficient. Think how many machines sit in closets never to be used because they bought one tried it a couple of times and gave up. My first few times I remember the 6 cents in clad or 11 cents for hours of work and then all the trash. I have had an opportunity to introduce the hobby to others and it's the ones who persist that succeed. But as a reminder success isn't measured in Finds but in the JOY that we receive!
