new deus peoblem

just received my new deus with 9 inch coil on friday,its very erratic,i can turn the sensitivity down,freq shift,change freq..does not matter..it got quite for a couple of minutes so i was like thank god,but it was too quite,so i ran a quarter over the coil and no signal...a minute later it started working again,does this sound like a bad coil?2 new machines in a month from different manufactures and problems with both,.the other unit got replaced..i have no luck!!

You dont provide a great amount of important information and what i mean by that is,was the tests being carried out inside or outside ??? what prog had you been using while you just started altering things at random,that is bad practice to just start altering any of the major settings without fully understanding how they change the performance on the Deus.

Rather than just do things at random,go back to basics and use Basic1 or Deus Fast both of these are well thought out progs and then try again to see how it performs,if you are making all these setting changes inside you coul well be getting a massive amount of EMI.

Also you have to fully extend the shaft and keep it well away from metal before start up,then just try running Basic1 out side and see how it goes,not alot else that i can suggest until you mention what you have been using.

all of these tests were during actual hunts,even deep in the woods ,it does not matter which program i use,i tried basic 1,deus fast,gm power,all set as they came and still has the same issue..i should have said i have owned a deus before,...it is so erratic that i can't even get it to ground balance..

Every ones fear with anything electronic, turn it on and things go weird. I would try and reboot the software or find a buddy with another coil to try and find where the problem is. Good luck.

a few minutes ago i got the deus out and when i turned it on it said no coil,i noticed that the led on the coil was not blinking,so i gently tapped it in different spots and the light began flashing,it ihas full bars on battery so i think the coil has a loose connection inside,i'm gonna give metaldetector.com a call in the am..
