It never fails, you get a new detector and it freakin rains........
The mailman dropped off my Troy X2 and my new Compadre with an 8 inch coil this morning and of course it is raining out.....
I put both detectors together and played with a few coins to see how the detectors responded to them. Both detectors did very well, actually much better than I expected for being indoors.
I have never owned a Troy detector before, and was very impressed with the build quality and love that sleek black look it has. One thing for sure, your headphone cord will not move the control knobs on the Troy by accident.
They are almost stiff to operate. Testing the Troy with a few coins showed me it was a very capable detector hitting the coins at very good distances.....hitting a nickel at a guesstimated distance of about 10 inches with a solid but faint tone with the super 7 coil.
I'm very happy with the Troy X2 and anxious to get it out for a hunt. I really think this little detector is going to be a real coin vacuum. The detector is practically in mint condition, looks like it was never used at all. Definitely a keeper !
The Compadre with 8 inch coil did very well in the air tests also. I wouldn't be afraid to use this detector at almost any site I hunt and worry that it wasn't deep enough to reach targets 6 inches plus easily. What impresses me the most is the razor sharp discrimination.
I will do some tests with both detectors on some 10k and 14k small targets like earrings and fine gold chains to see how well they hit, especially on the Compadre. Now if mother nature will turn the water off, I will be able to go out to play.........HH
