NEW DETECTORS ARRIVED TODAY

It never fails, you get a new detector and it freakin rains........
The mailman dropped off my Troy X2 and my new Compadre with an 8 inch coil this morning and of course it is raining out.....
I put both detectors together and played with a few coins to see how the detectors responded to them. Both detectors did very well, actually much better than I expected for being indoors.

I have never owned a Troy detector before, and was very impressed with the build quality and love that sleek black look it has. One thing for sure, your headphone cord will not move the control knobs on the Troy by accident.
They are almost stiff to operate. Testing the Troy with a few coins showed me it was a very capable detector hitting the coins at very good distances.....hitting a nickel at a guesstimated distance of about 10 inches with a solid but faint tone with the super 7 coil.
I'm very happy with the Troy X2 and anxious to get it out for a hunt. I really think this little detector is going to be a real coin vacuum. The detector is practically in mint condition, looks like it was never used at all. Definitely a keeper !

The Compadre with 8 inch coil did very well in the air tests also. I wouldn't be afraid to use this detector at almost any site I hunt and worry that it wasn't deep enough to reach targets 6 inches plus easily. What impresses me the most is the razor sharp discrimination.
I will do some tests with both detectors on some 10k and 14k small targets like earrings and fine gold chains to see how well they hit, especially on the Compadre. Now if mother nature will turn the water off, I will be able to go out to play.........HH

Oh you got yourself two fine detectors.

Roger,
Is it your birthday or just an early christmas? Very nice gifts to yourself, the 7 inch Troy coil is a hot one ain't it.
I got one myself years ago, pretty deep little coil, I have it mounted on my wife's Deleon.

Hombre, I just couldn't pass up the deal on these two detectors. You're right, the Troy x2 with the 7 inch coil is a hot one. I do need a coil cover for the super 7 coil if you know of one for sale.
I know most of the Troy coils are hard to find these days but maybe I might find a 9 inch spider coil for sale some day.........HH

Happy New Detectors!

The Mail Man Cometh to my House Today Too!

I talked to a guy the other day about the Troy 7 inch coil cover, he asked if I had a spare, of couse I don't but he wheels and deals all the time, he said they are very rare to find.

I'll keep an eye out for one, if I find one at a reasonable price, I will buy it and send it to you at my cost. Another alternative is try to find the plastic lid off of a peanut container that will fit or sumthin like that.

You might want to check with Tesoro to see if they have a coil cover for it. After all they did manufacture the Troy X2 and super 7 coil.

I wish they'd produce some more super 7 coils.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Scanman, what did the mailman bring you today? A new detector arriving makes me feel like a fat kid in a candy store....lol

Hombre, thanks for keeping an eye out for a coil cover for me....much appreciated !

Tabman, good idea, Tesoro might have one to fit it. It wouldn't matter to me if it wasn't black or not, would just like to keep the bottom of the coil in pristine shape.

Roger

I like tests.

kaolinwasher, I enjoy reading your tests and videos. you do a great job on them. I'm not all that good at testing but am gonna give it a shot on some different targets I have........HH

I have one of those Super 7 coils. It stays on my Eldorado most of the time. I really like it! You're going to have a lot of fun with both your new machines. The problem will be deciding which one to use.

You got yourself a couple fine detectors Roger, look forward to hearing with your thoughts on how they do for you on a hunt.

SkiWhiz, I really like them both. I had a chance a few months ago to trade a detector for a Troy x2 and a Troy x3 and thought really hard about it and passed the deal up. I wish I had made the trade after seeing how nice the Troy detectors are.
The Compadre and 8 inch coil seems to air test very good and from what tests I have done so far, it is still sensitive to small targets with the bigger coil. My hunting buddy has the 5.75" version of the Compadre so we can do some comparisons
between the 2 coil sizes. I sure hope the weather cooperates and lets me get out at least one more time to hunt with both detectors. Gonna be a long winter if I have to wait until spring to take them hunting  HH
