New detector ...

Willee - Texas

Well-known member
Have had and used my XP Deus for about a year now and found it to be very deep and sensitive.
Exactly what I would expect from a top of the line detector.
Just got a new Equinox to try for a while and hope it can perform as well as the DEUS.
If only the Deus were multi freq I would ot even look at another detector but I do a lot of hunting on salt water beaches and need to hunt in wet salt sand.
The Deus can be set to do OK there but it can not get the depth of the multi freq detectors nor is it as stable.
I really dont expect the Equinox to beat out the XP Deus in parks and fields but we will see.

Different tools for different conditions.

Exactly the same for me, love the Deus but not so good in salt water, have a Nox 600 coming tomorrow for the beach use, will see how it performs, won't be getting rid of my Deus though, still one of the best out there.

I tohave the same two detectors for the same reasons they work well for me Deus on land almost all the time and I’ve been killing the silver with it!

#metoo < maybe wrong movement lol i also have the nox 800 and the deus... i sold one deus then got another back on a trade and will be keeping it.. amazing machine.. love the nox also and will be beach hunting with it..

#metoo, LOL. I've been abused by metal detector manufacturers. :)
I have the Deus and Nox 800. I still am not sure about the 800's sounds especially in iron trash.
The Deus has found silver where none of my other detectors have in the iron infested yards of the farm I live on.

I am still trying to get used to the sounds of the 800.

For instance, in my test garden, one of the tests is a modern penny lower than and next to an iron target. I have to adjust my Iron Mask down to at least 2
in order to hear that penny and adjust my sweep speeds just a little. But even then, would I dig that target in a place like a park? Doubtful. The hit on it
is convincing since I know right where it is where I buried it. But it is only convincing due to that. In the wild, just walking along and swinging normally
I doubt very much I would stop to investigate further.
Maybe as I get more hours under the 800 I will change my mind about this.

You are right about that no one tool will do everything.
