Since I live within 30 miles of the Ocean (South Carolina) I am considering the purchase of a detector that I can use wading in the surf and not have to worry about getting it wet. I currently use a VLF (BBS) machine that works great on the sand but I am worried about getting it wet if I go wading and it certainly is not water resistant let alone water proof.
My problem is what detector can I get that is in my price range of 500-700 dollars that will do the job. I am considering the Garrett AT Pro due to its price and discrimination ability. I do not like to dig iron/steel.
I wonder if any of you use the AT Pro wading in salt water and the pro's and Con's that you find in doing so. I read that the AT Pro works great in the fresh water but am concerned about the ability of the machine to handle the salt water. I have read some poor reviews online. Of course I know those reviews are just one persons opinion.
Thanks
