New Detector Performance ...

Willee - Texas

Well-known member
I have an old Bounty Hunter Big Bud Pro and I swear it will knock the socks off anything Bounty Hunter is making today.
It detects deeper, is more stable, and dead accurate in the ID.
It is even built better!
What gives with that?
Why have they chosen to go backwards on quality and performance.
You would think the new machines would be way more powerful than the older ones.

Hi, Willie....BigSquid here in SW Iowa! I agree w/ ya. Had a BH RB5 for 30 yrs.....Now have a SS II UM. Still gettin' used to it. Getting finds, but I think the old one was a lot more accurate. My new one reminds me of a BIC disposable, as compared to my old ZIPPO! LOL! Anyway, got a lead on a mid 30's - 40's fairground acreage here on the north end of town. Gonna trek that out this summer! Good Luck 2 ya. Be chattin' w/ ya! BigSquid (5/19/10)

Hmm, Wille what new Bounty Hunter do you have that you are comparing to the old one??
I had a Red Baron back in the early 80s that was built alot better than the one I have now,but as far as depth and discrimination theres no comparison to my 505.

But I have been lurking ,reading these forums for a long time now and from what I have seen and read (all metal detectors are not created equal). The same brand and model have people either praising them or cursing em.

Do you have a Minelab??

The construction of old things was much better, because they had no concerns back then about conservation or ecology...The technology on the other hand cannot be beat in the new stuff.
