I have been wanting to get out into the water and do my detecting. I have been using a Sov Elite with 12.5 Sunray Coil and it falsed every time I touched a little water. I also have an Excal 800 purchased second-hand from Ebay last summer. I was never happy with the coverage of the 8" coil and it always falsed in the water.
I decided to take a detector purchase plunge over the weekend and ordered a new Excal 1000 from Ron's Detectors. I checked this morning and he said it was shipped Monday and I should get it today or tomorrow. The next finds from me will be with an Excal 1000.

If you do, get a good quick release belt and know how to work it! Don't put anything over your weight belt. 25# will feel like the titanics anchor ir your a ft under unexpedidly and trying to get some air.
