New Detector Help Please

I am looking to get another machine and would like some input. I know many of you on this forum own or have owned other machines so I wanted to get some feedback. The machines I'm considering are Garrett GTI 2500, Ace 250, Teknetics Omega 8000 or T2, Minelab Safari, 505 or 705. Thanks!

Josh, each forum will generally favor the mfg of the particular unit you are inquiring about. You may wish to post this question 'Metal Detecting Forum' which is not related to any particular machine/mfg.

It`s both a water machine and land machine, similar to the ACE 250, yet many many more features and better depth. It`s priced less then most of the machines you mentioned, and under certain conditions, meets and even beats them. I guess what`s missing from your question, is what types of targets are you searching for, what are the mineralization conditions like and how much experience do you have with what machine. Because this is a Garrett forum, and direct comparisons are not allowed on Findmall forums because of the fights that often times start, I will only discuss Garrett metal detectors.

im assuming that you already have an AT Pro, and you were just wondering a good sidekick unit, and not necessarily a backup. just a change of pace. personally for me ive been interested in maybe looking at a PI unit. from my understanding, they can withstand the worst soils and maintain depth power. only thing ive heard is they cant disc that well

Yes, I do currently have the AT Pro...just want something else for a change of pace.

i wouldnt get the ace 250, because the AT Pro in STD mode is pretty much the same thing(just better on the AT Pro imo). i really cant say anything on those units you have listed, but in the metal detecting forum there is a lot of people who could probably get you some good info. it all really comes down to the type of hunting you want to achieve with the machine, and the ground conditions in the area you plan to hunt. I can't offer much, but the ace 250 doesn't have adjustable ground balancing and that is an important feature. If u go with the ace 350 sport pack, u can get the 5X8 double d for your at. am pretty sure the coils r interchangeable

As far as I know ACE coils are different than the ATs due to the frequency difference...I may be wrong, but I think I am right...lol

HH,
