New D2 coil for MXT

Confetrit

Anyone here relic hunt with the MXT using the Whites D2 10' search coil? I received my coil today and I can tell I'm going to have to work with this coil in learning how to pinpoint with it. I fooled around in our backyard with it this afternoon and our yard is infested with iron. This coil gave me a run for the money. This coil is supposed to be one of Whites most accurate pin pointers and I'm sure it is. I know that this coil pinpoints to the front of the search coil instead of the coils center like most coils. Any tips on learning this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advance.

From your post it will be used mainly for Relic hunting then the D2 will be a very good choice and it should pinpoint very good in that enviroment, but you are trying to pinpoint a 10'' coil in a iron infested site which is not the best place to find out how a coil will perform. If you take it out into the proper field enviroment that it will beused on then you will really se that coil shine in not only being able to find relics but should pinpoint as Whites have suggested well, but in your back garden or yard in a havy iron site is not the best place for that coil.

Just my opinion of course.

I know that the D2 coil is good coil but I hated it. Few people liked the 6X10 but the 6X10 turned out to be my best all around Coil. Not as good Depth as some, not as good Separation as some, but overall the best General Purpose for me. Saying that in an Iron infested place the Elipticle might be a better choice. I know it Pin Points twice as good as the D2 10"

I can tell you from first hand experience, if you do not have a 4X6 shooter coil, you need one. Down to 6 or 7 inches that thing sucks up coins like a vacuum. I have found coins in the hole with at least two pulltabs. I had heck Pin Pointing it, but I knew it was there. If it covered more ground it would be on my Machine 90% of the time.

I went out last week and dug so many Pennies my Back went out, using the 4X6.
