new cz3d

I just ordered a cz3d it should be here early next week. just wondering how it does for depth compared to a f75 in hot ground in nw pa. my f75 ground balances at 68 to 70 with 3 bars. I didn't think that was too bad but I can only hit coins to 7 inches in my test garden with iffy vdis. figured id try a cz and give it a go. I have plenty of 1800s yards to detect that aren't to trashy and a lot of guys seem to talk highly of it for those kinds of sites. any thoughts or tips would be appreciated. thanks

Old yards that aren't heavily iron laden or trashy are right in the cz-3d wheelhouse.

Front yards more often than not are very good with the cz until you get close to the foundation where it tends to be filled with nails and other iron from house construction and repairs over the years. High tone iron falsing makes the cz-3d a less than ideal choice in areas with a lot of small iron.

As far as your F75 goes, if a dime in an air test gets 11" or more and you're only getting 7" in ground that has been properly prepped and aged for a test garden, then I'd say it's your ground.

If you are getting notably less than 11" air testing then I'd say you have an under performing unit.

If you haven't read this already, depth with the cz-3d usually maxes out with the sensitivity around 5.

thanks marcomo I thought about it being a weak machine but it does better than my at pro and about the same as my vaquero maybe a little better. once my vaq found a 50 cent piece at 11 inches right beside a stream but the soil was really sandy. I live in an older area and have found large cents but nothing more than 6 to 7 with my machines. I kind of like the simplicity of the vaq so I decided to try the cz. maybe itll make me dig more signals that with the others id pass. thanks again

John, my memory may be faulty here. but I have a vague recollection that the F75 maxes out at 4 bars which would mean that 3 bars is relatively mineralized AKA "bad" ground.

That your F75 is deeper than the AT Pro and slightly deeper than the Vaquero matches with my experience having or having had all three machines.

There is variance between individual machines with the cz-3d, so when yours gets in do an air test with a dime and see how deep it hits. If you get 11" or more you are good and you may want to take it a step further and get it calibrated and certified by NASA Tom.

yes I was thinking about calling him but couldn't find a phone number. I should have it by Thursday so ill give it a go and see how it does first. so far ive found two large cents some Indians and barber dimes in my yard so ill see what else I can dig up. I thought maybe the dual frequency would help with my ground. actually the f75 has six bars so I'm only halfway but there must be something about my ground because I have two quarters buried at a measured 8" and none of my detectors will hit them except my v3i running only the 2.5 freq. thanks for your comments.

the cz3d came today so I ran it through the test garden and it did very well, it even hit the two 8" quarters, seems very easy to ground balance a lot like the vaquero, I had to cover it with a bag because its been pouring down rain here for two days straight. was planning on hunting with it today but the weather didn't cooperate. guess its an AT pro day. I did email and get a response back from Tom D,he said to hunt with it a little first and then just email him when I'm ready to send it in. only a 4 day turnaround

Hopefully, you will love the CZ. Most people get one and keep it or 12 of them for life, lol. I am down to just three of them right now. A Tom tune is great piece of mind if you get the chance to send it. Keep us posted on how it goes.
