NEW CZ3D ON THE WAY!!

Well-known member
I have a new cz3d coming and was curious about the bigger 10.5 inch coil..does anyone favor it over the 8 inch?i heard it's heavy for everyday hunting, thanks

I had a CZ70 A pro with a 10 in coil once and that machine wore me out but I did find silver coins in the soccer fields with it. I have a CZ3D now and I keep the 8 in. on it and I'm still finding older coins without the weight. It's a personal choice and being able to swing that extra weight around with the 10 in. They both work good and go deep enough to find the goods providing your settings are correct on your machine.

thanks for the info,i have mild soil here in ny,so i have a feeling the 8 inch is gonna go pretty deep!!can't wait to give it a run..

I definitely prefer the 8".

The 10.5 coil is a back breaker ergonomically. If you use it, plan on hip or chest-mounting unless your hunts are really short.

undrpar,

I prefer the 10.5...I find it's one the few coils that can find coins on edge better that the standard concentric config.
And it does go deeper in my mineralized soil.

It's definitely heavier though...no doubt about that. :)

If you end up trying it on the detector, make sure you shorten the shaft length so the detector hangs more from your arm, and the coil just misses your feet.
Otherwise, if you're holding all the weight with your arm...your arm and shoulder will quickly complain. :)

thanks for the replies guys,i'll start with the 8 inch and see how it does..i have a school near me with 8+ inch coins to test it at..someone on another forum was talking about possibly making a pistol grip rod setup like the cz7 for the cz3d..i think that would help alot with the weight of the bigger coil..

The 10.5 provide better coverage, a little more depth, pinpoints well but really is heavy and most hipmount....Certainly not for every hunt but a large beach or fieldyou would surely cover a lot more ground and many do well with them...For me the stock 8 goes as deep as I want to dig and then some so its a matter of preference...

What they say about the 10.5'' is true as it is heavy and loves deep coins on edge. I keep one in my arsenal to go back over sites I think I got cleaned out to see if a deepie or two remains. But about 90% of the time I use the 8'' coil as it don't miss much.

I much prefer the 8" over the 10.5". I had a CZ-3D with the 10.5 and wound up hurting my elbow using it. About the worst machine design ever as far as balance is concerned. The CZ-21 is the only one that is worse.

Am I asking to much? I thought the price was about right. It is clean, no scratches and a very good detector. I just don't get out as much as I used to. Still have my CZ6a and two others.
