remain to be answered.

1. Are nickels now in medium tone where they belong?
&
2. Is there a means to switch between Freshwater & Saltwater mode?

Pushbutton GB???? Who cares! The dang CZ20 is very easy to GB, no need for no stinkin' pushbutton GB.

I'm more curious now than before as to any important updates/changes were made from the CZ20 - the description and picture look awfully similar to the CZ20 with only a few small differences. I hope it's not just a "fancied up CZ20" without any real changes except the additional $$.

Who ever gets one in the near future, please give us as complete of a review as possible and as soon as possible! Thanks.

I honestly didn't know the CZ20 was that expensive - I got mine used online for ~$450 a couple years ago and for some reason thought the "new" price when they were being made was in the $700-850 range. I thought perhaps they had upped the price to be closer to the Excal - good to know it actually is a bit cheaper!

Now need to find out how different the "guts," field tests and performance compare.

Thanks for correcting me Mr. Bill

It has yet to be released, but reports on the proto-types in the field are comparable to the original CZ20 and of course. it's reputation preceedes it. We should see releases, by early to mid-October(according to Mike Scott), barring any unforseen production issues and those of us, who have them on order, will be in the field running them. Those who have used the CZ20 previously, will be able to pick up the ball and run quicker though, as I will be learning for a while! GH

Well, I just saw your second picture and cannot see any difference between the CZ-21 and my CZ-20. Of course I do not have my CZ-20 here with me to compare it to the picture.

I have been having problems with my CZ-20 since I bought it. I have a 10" coil on it and I was told that was my problem, I should have gotten the 8" coil, a 10" coil was just too hot for a beginner to use. Everyone has been telling me I just have to learn how to use it. Last winter I sent it in to Fisher to have them check it over and I could not see any difference in how it worked.

Finally got some volunteers from my TH club to help me. One of them has a 1280-X which is similar. The other had another brand, I think it was green. We walked side by side and the CZ-20 could not pick up some of the targets the other two could. On some it was so weak that I would have missed it if we didn't know something was there. I traded back and forth and whoever had the CZ-20 found less than either of the other guys even though none of us had ever operated any of the other detectors.

I sent an email to Fisher explaining my comparison and they told me to send it in and they would really give it a good inspection this time.

I got a call from them a couple of days ago. The lady said that it had a cracked PC board and was unrepairable. They were out of stock on the boards. Would I mind if they used a CZ-21 board instead? Well, I had not heard of the CZ-21, have not been to this forum in ages. Of course I said OK, as long as they included a new instruction manual. :clapping: She said they could not ship it until after their new product announcement in a few days.

I certainly hope that it is at least as good as the old CZ-20 was supposed to be. Living in Michigan, I do not know when I will get a chance to see how well it works.:detecting:

I must say that I wondered what would happen to the Fisher product line and the good service that had induced me to get my CZ-20 in the first place. Although it has been a frustrating two years, I am pleased with their accepting responsibility for taking it back a second time and extending this offer of an upgrade to take care of my problem. If they keep this up I am sure we are all safe in our choice of choosing a Fisher detector.:fisher::please:

I have a CZ20 which works very well, but I'd like to know the name/address of the manufacturer's service center to send it to for repairs, should I need any. I realize it's a dumb question, but I had read somewhere that Bounty Hunter had bought them out. Thanks for indulging a dumb question.

How the machine works out when you get it. I talked with a local guy yesterday that had sent his 20 in the middle of August and is still wating on it. Fisher also told him that it will be a "new" and "better" machine.
Drat! don't need that kind of competition up here.

Fisher's own web site does not even list these yet...

Just bought an Excalibur to go to St. Lucia...
Would have loved to have had this instead if it is even better than the CZ-20 which is a very good machine.
Depending on the users reviews I may still get one this coming winter or spring.
We will see.

I got a letter from Fisher telling me that the most noticeable feature will be the pinpoint switch mechanical design, and that the upgrade will be of great benefit to me. They gave me a number to call for more information but I do not want to post it on the forum at this time.

Not to be negative but somehow if the pinpoint switch is a high point of the upgrade, I think I will be underwhelmed. We'll see.

The thing that bothers me is that when I bought the detector Fisher had a lifetime guarantee. In this same letter they also tell me that since the unit is over two years old, I will have to pay a $25.00 fee that will go toward processing and freight. I already paid the freight to send it to them.

They also reminded me that when I sent it to them last time, 3/12/07 it was more than 90 days ago. This ticks me off because the detector has not worked properly since I got it. After I got it back it was not any better than before. It wasn't until a couple of guys in my detector club went out with me and we went one on one comparing signals and even swapping machines. After I told Fisher how it compared they told me to send it in again and they would give it a real going over. This time they found a cracked circuit board.

Anyone else have a problem with them not honoring the lifetime guarantee?

I've heard the new warranty will be 1 year, I've also heard it will be 2 years. The original warranty with the real Fisher was 5 years, 2 years parts and labor and then 3 years parts. Then there was the "lifetime" warranty. I had the original and my repair was over $300.00 with free parts. Warranty is a big issue with me. Will be watching for issues before I buy a new one and wish I hadn't sold mine.

If you go back and read your lifetime warranty paperwork, it states the need to return the detector with $25. after the 90 day period.

Fisher in the past did not ask for it, of course they were also ready to close the door's because they were in the Red.

So what they asked you to do is what the lifetime warranty states.
