new cz-70 pro owner

I bought a cz-70 off of cometguy that posts on this forum. I received it 1 week ago but only got to try it once so far. I absolutly love the quick response of this detector, and as others have said, it does love nickles, though square tabs fall there also. This is my first experience with a Fisher. I own an Ace 250, a Sovereign GT and an Excaliber 1000, so this Fisher is entirely new to me. Any suggestions or comments will be welcome. I live in southern California and want to to try looking for the older coins in local parks. I have my other machines for doing the beaches, though I may try this one there just to see how it does. I'm heading to a local park as soon as I post this. It's not old, but I just want to get signals and practice with this machine to get used to the feel and sounds. I did read how important it is to correctly ground balance, so that is one of the things I am going to be working on in a few minutes. I well let you know if I like it when I get back.

I'm old, and let me tell you that getting up and down for 3 1/2 hours in a park just about killed my knees. I'm used to doing the beach and using a scoop, and it spoiled me because it is way easer. I've done this park before just looking for change, but only for less than an hour at a time. This time I dug everything that wasn't iron, and I had no idea there was so much trash under the grass. This park is not old, but it is only one block wide and half a block deep, so I figured I would do one section at a time, cleaning out everything, just to see if there is any gold in this park (none this time). Besides a multitude of can tabs, bottle caps, peaces of aluminum foil, over 30 nonspendable pennies the went in the trash, and nails, I did find 5 quarters, 11 dimes 12 nickles and 10 spendable pennies. Did you notice something in those numbers? More nickles than any of the other denomination of coins. I've never had that happen before in all the years I've detected. As I said in my post above, I've never used a Fisher before, but I can tell you, I love this cz-70 for the parks. I havn't tried it at the beach yet so I can't say what my opinion of it there is.

I have been using a CZ-70 for a few years and its a great detector I use it with no discrimination and the sensitivity on 6 for the greatest depth, I use the 10.5" coil all the time. Good luck, HH

CM, I'm using my machine just the way you do, with no discrimination and sensitivity at 6, but I have the 8 inch coil. I don't seem to be able to pinpoint with it as well as I do with my Ace 250 or even my Sovereign, but maybe I just need more time to get used to the machine.

Bryce, thank you, it is a great machine. I've read back a few pages on this forum and I see your main purpose in buying one of these was for finding nickles. Well, let me tell you, I have never owned a machine that will find nickles in a park like this one. If I read right you have used 3 different cz models. Are you still using the cz-70 or are you using a different model now?

I don't care what anyone says, you can't beat the old CZ's for coin hunting. DEEP detectors and very easy to set up and run.

I have always had a cz in my stable since the 90's...but currently have the CZ70pro.

It's my favorite of all the CZ's.

Hey Lobo, I was hoping you would post. I will tell you the other nice thing about loving nickels is that it will find men's wedding rings in the strangest places. Those gold band and a nickel are almost exactly alike. If you are digging nickels you will find gold. I bought that CZ70 to beach hunt on my California trip. It got the job done with two rings for me to bring back to Indiana. I tried it here twice and came away with silver every time. My only advice is to pay attention to your swing speed. Most people have to slow down just a little if they come off of some of the newer detectors. As far as pinpointing you can almost pinpoint off of the beep. Cross it and pay attention to the beep and nine times out of ten you can dig that spot and turn your target over. Thanks, for the update I am glad you seem to be getting along so well with the CZ70. I only turned it loose so I could send my 1021 CZ3 to Tom D. for a tune up.
