New CZ-21 Installed Anderson Straight Shaft Today

Just got in my new CZ-21 8" coil beach machine from Big Boy Hobbies ( Thanks' Bart) to go along with my Tesoro Sand Shark PI unit. I installed the Anderson straight shaft today and the balance is a lot better. I did not care for the stock configuration as much though it was ok. It felt more bulky and a little more flimsy and loose than the Anderson straight shaft set up. I would use the stock shaft though for inland or relic hunting as to see the controls and get to the pin point button for these inland uses of the CZ-21.

I added a little heavy duty black tape to the bottom or top of the control box for protection when sat down using the straight shaft configuration. Also used industrial Velcro to add the belt clip to the top as a little foot when setting the CZ-21 down ( can be removed very easy ) It keeps the box of the ground when setting it down, it works pretty good too ( I made a similar little foot/stand held on with Velcro for the Tesoro Sand Shark with the Anderson straight shaft for the same reason ) Also I added a little wire loom protection to the coil wire to protect it and wrapped the coil wire nicely on the shaft, minimize false signals and snags to the coil wire.

Happy Hunting All, :detecting:

Nice job!
How do you find using the pinpoint button with your other hand?
That was my only concern with that configuration. But it seems a fair tradeoff considering the flex on the stock shaft.

I just push the detector forward and straight arm it then I reach across and touch the pin point button with my pointer finger on my free hand, it's not optimal but works. I very seldom use the pin point on the beach just X the target the old school way and dig. When hunting the beach I hunt with the disk at 1 anyway not to miss any gold so there is no real need to change knobs around after set up so all is good with the straight shaft. If I need to change anything I put the detector out forward straight armed and make the changes. It's a little different with the control box on the straight shaft because the knobs are now upside down with the control box mounted underneath the forearm/elbow.

With the Tesoro Sand Shark pictured and the straight shaft it's really not an issue no pin point button to deal with at all, just set and hunt.

I just like this set up better for beach hunting and find the trade offs for the extra comfort and shaft stiffness small.

Happy Hunting,

Happy Hunting To You,

Really nice set-up. I also use the Anderson straight shaft on my CZ21 and love it. I also got the Anderson zero flex lower shaft which is a huge improvement over that "wet noodle" that comes standard with the CZ21.
