New CTX

I am sure this has been asked over and over but I will ask one more time. What is the best way to run the CTX for the first few times. Then what programs are good ones to step up to? Seems there are so many different programs to choose from.

Goto the CTX Classroom and Look at the user modes.. One I used when I first started is the 2 links in my signature(GONEHUNTING'S SETTINGS and HOW TO CREATE IT).. Evan

No problem glad I can help...

Thanks AJ I started watching those videos on YouTube, they are so informative. We have to get out together this week if you want. I have two big parks we can hit.

rjfjedi,

I too just ordered the CTX 3030 from Bart at Big Boys Hobbies and agree with you about him being great to deal with. I wish that you lived in Central Kentucky, so that we could hunt and learn together but as you have already seen, help is always here on this forum. Enjoy your new detector, I know that I will also.

With the functionality of the CTX 3030, the number of possible "combinations" allows for a virtually endless amount of programs. The advice I would offer anyone new to the CTX 3030 is to use the default programs while you learn the CTX 3030 functionality. Start off by changing one thing at a time, so you know how each change affects your ability to understand what it is "telling you". Get to know how each "setting" or combination of settings can influence the overall performance of your CTX 3030 in yoru sites. And most important, don't be afraid to think outside of the box. Just because someone else isn't doing it doesn't mean it is wrong. Experiment, practice and learn. There are some great "programs" that others have had success with. But always keep in mind that what works well for someone in one part of the world may not necessarily be the best "combination" for your sites and your situations. JMHO HH Randy

I now use some of Diggers and Gonehuntings programs as well as my own. My advice echo's Digger since you are coming from an ACE 250 I would start with stock and hunt it till you learn the features and options. Like target trace separation modes id numbers etc. I would print diggers chart so you understand what those are. You may already but in case you do not it will help. Like I said in your other post we are all here to help and learn together. Good Luck and Happy Hunting.

This is going to be a great learning experience. I am going to take it slow and learn every aspect of this machine. I am sure this isnt going to take me a couple of days to do.
