New CTX 3030

SE-5

New member
It arrived today, very fast shipping from Bart. Had a few questions and sent him an email at 8:30pm PST thinking I'd hear back tomorrow sometime.... 2 minutes later he replies with answers! Dang guy must sleep with his phone and computer! I can tell already I do NOT like the manual being on a disk or down load on-line, would rather have a hard copy that I can toss in the truck, one that would withstand some use! An intimidating machine but I'm approaching it in small sections, not going to try and master (figure out the basics) the entire thing all at once....couldn't if I tried! Only went out in the back yard for about 20 minutes, tossed some coins and junk on the ground to hear the tones. Don't think I'll get anything out there, I've pounded the heck out of it with my AT PRO for well over a year. I know one thing for sure, I'll have a LOT of questions with this one.... For weeks I've been watching videos, reading this forum, reading the manual and today I felt like it was all Greek to me! (I say that because my wife is Greek, and that is a language I just can't get!) Well, for those of you that have been swinging this machine for a while, please try and remember when you just started out and forgive some of the dumb questions I have no doubt I'll be asking!!

You dont worry about asking anything here. If someone gives you a hard time, they are'nt the one's you should be listening to anyway.
Merry Christmas and welcome to the CTX 3030 family.

The only dumb question is the one that you don't ask.
We are all new to this machine and especially if you haven't used minelabs before
there is a big learning curve
Don't try to get fancy to start with just use one of the basic setups and start to learn the
sounds of minelab
set yourself up a test garden where you can learn the sounds in the ground of targets then go to an area that
you have pounded with your other detector where you have removed much of the trash and treasure before and
you will be surprised what is left for the ctx to find.

Congrats !!! I didn't like the fact of having a pdf manual myself so I printed it out and put it in a 3 ring binder. When printing the pdf you can often choose a setting called "booklet" (provided you have adobe reader). It will print all the odd pages first, then you simply turn around the pages and throw it back in the printer and it will print the even pages so it makes a manual or book.

Enjoy your new CTX, I'm still learning and everyone here at Find's will do their best to help you including myself...HH !!!

You will get it quicker then you think yes i came from a Garrett to a minelab it was gti 2500 to the sepro and it was nuts. I went from se pro to Ctx. A few things this may help that i did not have on the se pro . Combined audio this will limit what sound you need to learn since you set that up. Also i would hunt a stock program for abit to learn the machine. I took my disc to office depot the charged me like 15 bucks made me a bound book for the machine and exchane software. The guys on here are great and will answer question brat is also super to work with as you know . Another thing the classroom fourm has a chart with all the number where good targets fall. Hh

I downloaded the manual onto my Iphone that way I alway have it. GL HH:twodetecting::minelab::cheers:

Took it out this afternoon. I made some kind of mistake, hit a button and the thing went nuts... beeping, jumping.... not having the manual with me, I turned it off since I did not remember how to reset it to the factory settings.... Had found just a few pennies, a pull tabe etc... I fired up the AT Pro, hit a penny signal, dug down 7 full inches and pulled a 1917d wheatie. I had also been getting a faint upper 70s low 80s, pulled another inch of dirt and there she was, a 1940 Merc!! Total clad of 7 pennies, 1 nickle, 2 dimes, plus my two good ones.

Time to slap in the CD and try and figure out how to reset the CTX.
