New CTX 3030 laptop question???

DEEP-ON

New member
Hi all, just got a new CTX 3030, can't use it yet, as we are frozen up solid with a foot and a half of snow here in the north east, my question is this, my laptop is beat, thinking of getting a new one to use with my new CTX, any susgestions, or just get any laptop, or should I be looking for anything special?

As long as it's has a Windows OS rather than a Mac you should be fine.

+1 with what parkgt said.

The Xchange2 software does not require the fastest processor, memory, and best video cards available, BUT....if you WANT to have a new computer to run your brand new CTX 3030 software on there is definitely nothing wrong with buying a nice new fast latest greatest computer if you want to! The processing power may come in handy for editing all of the photos and videos you are going to be taking and making of all your cool finds with your new machine!

Which ever you do, enjoy your new machine!! Man, I would love it if we could find the old coins out here on the West coast that you folks do over there on the East coast! Have fun!

Alienware 18

I use Sony Vegas Pro 12 video editing and its pretty common to be needy for resources. I haven't done a hunt in a while but tons of flight video and software flight test.

If you're doing any video stuff as well I would highly suggest a MacBook Pro. You can run windows on a second drive or partition the drive that you have.

I was a computer builder for several years....it really boils down to what you are using it for, primarily. When my family and friends ask me what is a good general laptop (Internet, Office, video editing) you can't go wrong with a minimum configuration of an Intel i5 processor and 8GB of ram (or 16GB if you can swing it and using video editing a bit more). A nice above average would be an i7 Intel processor w/16GB..again, it depends on what you use it for and most importantly..your budget! In my opinion, stay away from AMD...not saying they are that bad, and I am sure many here have an AMD processor with no issues, but I have had more repairs with boards using AMD.... for me, Intel is king. Someone here said Alienware 18....I like his style, but can't buy a laptop that costs as much as the CTX! lol.

Good luck! If you have any specific questions or help, PM me......

That's my style! Love it....however, can't buy a laptop that costs as much as the CTX! :spin:

Thanks for the info guys, yes I have found a fair amount of old coins in NH, with my etrac, cant wait to fire up the CTX.

Love the Ailenware as much as the CTX. I spend more time with the laptop than with the detector so to me it makes sense to spend more on it.
