-Both Garrett Pro-Pointers turned off prior to each air test to avoid any possible drift

-Both machines had a new Duracell 9 volt battery

-Please remember, it is an air test. Distances may very depending on the many characteristics in the surrounding matrix of the target.

-Oxides on targets will probably affect results

-The air tests were performed at room temperatures

-The Garrett electric pin-pointers work well in extremely cold temperatures, pending the battery condition

-I have experienced poor performance with previous electronic pin-pointers in the cold, where they wouldn't vibrate, go out of tune or quit working all together

-All tests calculated to the nearest mm.

-Test performed in order of targets shown

-First two tests were performed on the same silver ring, with each having a different orientation towards the tip of the probe

-Next test was the silver dime, the 22 and finally the musket ball[/size]

On the AT, what was your sensitivity setting on?

Thanks for doing these tests.

Still think any pinpointer is a waste and just makes folks too lazy to pinpoint properly with their machine. Some instances though glad i had Navy Davy along with his pinpointer with me or I would still be down on my good knee!

It was my trusty used one.

Tenured ProPointers all degrade in depth compared to brand new, easily enough to be danged close to these levels the new version is showing.

Come hunt in GA clay, Leslie. You will change your mind! A musket ball in red clay looks like red clay. That being said, I rarely used a pinpointer when swinging the GTI 2500.

I second that Fishfinder, I have an opinion as to what causes it, but would like to know from the manufacturer. Had 3 in the past (liked them so much)with the same issue and don't want to waste time and money if the "carrot" does the same.

It speeds up my recovery and helps me spend more time detecting than looking for a target the same color as the dirt. What I like with shallow targets is the ability to pin point and then pop the target out with my probe and screwdriver without digging a plug. Hope to find out next week when I can go back to dirt fishing. I have a nerve conduction test next Tuesday and find out the week after that if I can avoid elbow surgery. HH.

does everyone who has the carrot have any falsing like the old one had ?? I am not the only one to ask and not going to fork out for a carrot if this issue hasn't been fixed.

My wife bought me a Garrett Propointer 2 years ago for Christmas and after using it I told her it was the best gift she has ever bought me. I wouldn't want to go detecting without it and I feel that I do a good job pinpointing with the detector itself. It saves so much time which means I can find more targets and I dig smaller holes. If you ever give one a try you just might wonder why you didn't try one earlier.

No falsing with mine at all. Even if I thump it on my palm, quiet as a mouse.

I have NOT had a single bit of falsing with the new unit.....

Although, I never had a falsing problem with my older black one either.

I have never had anything but the new orange pro pointer , but it has been nothing but flawless since Ive had it .
