-Both Garrett Pro-Pointers turned off prior to each air test to avoid any possible drift

-Both machines had a new Duracell 9 volt battery

-Please remember, it is an air test. Distances may very depending on the many characteristics in the surrounding matrix of the target.

-Oxides on targets will probably affect results

-The air tests were performed at room temperatures

-The Garrett electric pin-pointers work well in extremely cold temperatures, pending the battery condition

-I have experienced poor performance with previous electronic pin-pointers in the cold, where they wouldn't vibrate, go out of tune or quit working all together

-All tests calculated to the nearest mm.

-Test performed in order of targets shown

-First two tests were performed on the same silver ring, with each having a different orientation towards the tip of the probe

-Next test was the silver dime, the 22 and finally the musket ball[/size]

For some reason it reminds me of a female pleasure device. For back massages, ya, for sore neck muscles and such.

Ha! A dual usage tool for sure!

There was a very interesting post last year by somebody I can remember right now...wish I could, to give credit to them...Anyway, they traveled a lot for business, stayed in a lot of Hotels, and carried their Pinpointer with them...they would use it to quickly sweep the Plastic P trap under the sink in their hotel room for lost gold earrings, small chains, rings and whatnot that went down the sink and got trapped there! Then, it was an easy matter to unscrew the trap and reclaim the gold!

I remember when I was a kid and we stayed at Hotels...a guy could dive into the pool, and go along the bottom and find earrings and rings and stuff down there in the deep water by hand and eye...so that post about using a pinpointer to search a plastic P trap at Hotels holds merit....

Anyway, good chart there John... And too funny there Upnorth!
Mud

I too saw it somewhere on the endless forums......I once stayed at a hotel on business, looked under the sink, and found a full bottle of Baby Duck stashed underneath still in a paper bag and the receipt indicated that it was there for at least 2 years. In my teenage years we used to call it "BUCK FIVE, COME ALIVE". To this day, I can't stand the smell or taste of any wine.:puke:

Interesting test John. I intend to buy one when I come up in July. I have a definite plan for using it down here.

Question... Was the AT pointer on it's maximimum setting? How does it compare on all three settings? Just curious, I can see how reducing sensitivity could be handy in some situations.

if the pin pointer went off in the place you suggested...I would stay the hell away from there.. I have been thinking about getting the new pin pointer. I assume it will work in salt water as well? (need to do some research)
