I need a little advice from some of you seasoned etrac relic hunters! We are goinjg to hunt some relics tomorrow in a place that has lots of iron targets and has been detected pretty good in some areas.I believe there are lots of stuff left according to the owner there were two or three fortifications and warehouses and camps on this 140 acre tract. The ridge where the forts were is wooded and the field has sage grass about 2 feet tall the wooded area has been pirated by people sneaking in.My question is should I load Jasons program in and start there or use the factory preset and adjust it? Any advice at all will help!

I am not an expert, but if I was hunting an area like this I would pay close attention to the numbers on the display. Select the detect button one more time so you get large numbers on the display and listen to the tones and go from there. You may even want to select the Quick Mask button and raise the FE to help with discrimination and hunt in all metal mode. If you select it again it will go back to detect mode without asking if you want to save it. I would also dig a lot of targets just to get an idea of what is out there. I always wear gloves, I have pulled out broken bottle necks with metal rings around them more than once and it sounds like there will be rusty, sharp metal objects where you are going. Some of my best finds have been relics. Like I mentioned, I am not an expert yet, but I do enjoy this hobby. If you find anything interesting please post it for the rest of us to enjoy. I went out today but the ground is still frozen.

Well, sounds like a weed wacker for the sage grass might come in handy! :super: Other than that, choose your settings, swing low and slow and adjust accordingly! Each site is different.
