Any opinions on sunray or minelabs smaller coils? Are they both of the double D design? Which is better around trashy areas, any difference? Any other options? Anybody have any relic hunting tips for the explorer.

Hi Brian, I just got the new Sun Ray 8" stealth coil and X1 Probe. I don't know how I ever got along without the coil it's really great. HH-Coinshooter65

They are both double D, the Minelab is a bit smaller and a bit heavier.. both work qwell in trash and get about the same depth.. great in iron.. you can also get the inserts for the sunray which keep twigs and stuff from getting caught in the coil... either one though is great for relic hunting.. I prefer the Sunray mainly because its lighter and covers a bit more ground

brian i got the 8 inch sunray stealth its great, the stock minelab coil 10.5 inch is just to damn heavy to use for long outings . plus the sunray is SMOOTH::::and alot easier to pinpoint i got a 65 quarter with it tues and it was about 10 inches down thought it was silver GOT SKUNKED chances are i will never use the stock coil unless the site i am it is REALY CLEAN

I don't know about the 8" coils but I can say that the Sun Ray 5" coil is a great little coil. It does very well in high thrash and gets a respectable deapth. I got a nickle at about 5"-6".

Hi, I have both being the X-8 and the probe, I have went over quite a few places that I did with the 10 and yes the 8 did prove itself not to mention you swing the 8 you will never go back to the 10. HH
