New coil

Boris

New member
Well I just recieved my new 5x10Hf coil today from Gerry's detectors, and now I have to wait for spring or at least a good thaw. I'll bet that I am not the only one on this forum that is biting his (or her) nails.winter stinks.

Boris,
I feel your pain. I went for about 45 minutes today, but the ground is just too hard. I found 85 cents in surface clad though. I just ordered a digger from Predator tools. Everyone says it's the best for cutting hard ground, or any for that matter. Can't wait to see. Well, don't bite them nails too hard.

Heck, I go detecting about every other day. Sorry. You are going to like that 5x10. Mine stays on my X-70 about 95% of the time.

What state you in xwyokid? Must be nice. Boris and myself must be crazy to freeze like this. What state you in Boris? I'm an Illini man. The ground was so hard yesterday, even though it reached the 50's, I could not dig any depth.

Well I am fortunate enough to live in Southwest Michigan, right in the middle of the snow belt. it will be a while before I can hunt, I just hope I have any nerves left, this has been a bad winter for sure.

I am in the same situation as Boris, I guess that is because we only live 12 miles apart and we sometimes go detecting together.

I have a X-70 but no 5x10 for it. But I have a GP 3000 and a 5x10 mono for that. I do want to get one, along with both a 10.5 MF & HF DD.

Both of you guys live in Michigan. When I was I kid we visited friends there where they lived near a small freshwater lake and a snapping turtle chomped on and bit my finger at the lake, hahaha. A story I will never forget!

And Bob is from Illinois and Randy is from Iowa. I am in Alberta, Canada and I absolutely hate cold weather, I am here totally against my will and NOT by choice. I am right now watching a TV program show about Austin, Texas. One of the top 10 places to live in the USA. Like the lady said, mild winters here are a plus. What I am getting at is I have often said to myself and to my mother that if I was a US citizen I would NEVER EVER live in a northern state because there are so many, many choices to live in the southern part of the USA for mild short winters like Austin-San Antonio, Texas, and Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico(even the very north part), southern Colorado, Arizona, California, Willmington-NC, Charleston-SC, Savannah-GA, Mobile-AL, Jackson-MS, Florida, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, and on....Canada has nothing-zip, zero, every square inch of this country is cold in the winter even Victoria and Osoyoos, BC. You people do not realize how lucky you are and I would trade for US citizenship any day. So would you want to and could you guys could you see yourself moving south to Austin or New Mexico, etc. for mild short winters and metal detecting(and barbequing outside) all year long?? I sure could!!!!!! Absolutely!!!!

Went out this last weekend for a few hours. Found a few quarters and a junk piece of jewelry necklace. But, shoot, it doesn't matter. It's the getting out that matters. Especially here in Portland. We had almost 10 days without rain and I made the most of the window I could.

I sure feel for you David, I am not a big fan of winter either but the summers here are fantastic. But I still plan on moving to the south after retirement, maybe South Caralina. I was going to say Tennesee but I was not sure how to spell it.Do you remember what the name of that lake was? I live near the big lake and hunt the beaches here and do quite well.
