New Coil

I've had my new 10" DD Excelerator coil out a couple of times so far. At first wasn't to sure about it, but today helped me decide to give it more time. I usually hunt the same places so didn't expect much. I hunted a school grassy playground today. Didn't find anything old, except one wheat penny, a 1944, my birth year. I also found 5 Qtrs, 2 Dms, and 14 Nkls. I never really measured the depth of the nickels but some were deeper than the blake on my Lesche digger. Deeper than I usually get them, and with a good lock at 18. I like the balance of the coil and can't wait to hunt some different areas.

Dale,
I'm glad to hear you are doing well with the 10". I too have been busy and with the short days have been hunting the same hunted sites that are close to home. Because I have hunted these sites before my finds are mostly deeper than my Lesche also. If you haven't been digging signals with less than a full confidence bar you are missing some deep ones. I just hunted for an hour across the street from the house got 10 coins all between 6" - 9 ".

I don't know which coil you were using before but since I used an 8"DD and 6x10 DD there was no getting used to. My guess is the new Whites could go for $250. like the 12". Rob

Hi Rob, I just got my MXT in August. Until I got the 10"EX. I used only the 6x10 Eclipse. I haven't taken the Ex. off since I got it. I'm sure it will get the deeper coins if I swing it over them. I still do have trouble sometime with rusty crown bottlecaps. They will come in at 76-79 and some sound to good to pass. If I remember to try the edge of the coil they will usually show as iron. Overall, I'm very pleased with the coil. HH Dale

Good going you guys. I love to hear about the new coil. From what I'm reading, I need to put it back on my machine. I was hunting with it this weekend, but when going to another yard, I changed it for my stock coil. I was afraid that the pinpointing would not be what I wanted with going into a pretty lawn. Larry said it was because I'm not use to a DD coil. Hmm, guess I should be working with it in my own back yard. I know it's a coil that I want to get to know since it does go deeper. Thanks all and HH, Nancy
