Yet another similarity to the D2. Don't let that bother you too much, it would be MUCH worse if it downgraded a good signal instead. Its easy to get upset if your in an area littered with bottlecaps though. But if you watch closely, you will soon come across an old good target that has iron with it, these are obviously missed by everyone before you found it. When I use my D2 in a heavily hunted area, I pay extra attention to trashy signals(high chirps with iron grunt), these sometimes are difficult but good targets. Turn sideways and sweep the target again. The design of a DD allows it to see a thin strip so turning 45 degrees makes it see the target with a completely different perspective. If there is iron with the target, it may only affect the signal while sweeping it from one position. These difficult targets mandate that you only sweep about 2 inches side to side. More than that will cover more targets than you want. If there is iron nearby, your goal is to look at the good target without sweeping over the iron target so a VERY small sweep is in order once you narrow down where the potentially good target is.
