New Coil 6" HFDD

TURNMASTER

Active member
I got a new coil. I'm hoping this one will be better able to see through the trash at some of the places I have been hunting.
I would have got the 6" MFCC for the trash, but for the ground conditions this seemed to be the better choice.

I'll let ya know how it goes after a couple of hunts.

Congrats on your purchase. Although I do like the lower frequencies better for identifying ferrous targets in multiple tone mode, I find the separation characteristics of the DD to be better than the concentric of the same size. And if your ground conditions require a low GBRN, I know you'll like the DD better. JMHO HH Randy

You definitely made the right choice if wanting the best coil for picking good targets out of trashy areas, use ground tracking to help increase your finds. Today using the 6" DD HF coil in a small playground I found $2.11, had previously searched it with the stock coil and found $1.80 in change. At another site I had hunted out with the stock coil, the first time back with the 6" DD coil found 33 more coins from the exact same area. Admittedly you won't always have that good of luck with areas you had searched previously with other coils, but with the 6" DD HF coil it's often almost like having bought a new detector. Have no doubt it is like that with many of Minelab's other coils too. Want to thank B.Bill and Digger for their excellent advice!
