New Bounty Hunter Tracker IV owner

My wife needed something basic and the Tracker IV from all my reading and the good spoken about it by Dave J....ended up getting two units, sort of.
Got a Radio Shack Pioneer 100 control box with a 4" coil dirt cheap, arrived today. Have a brand new BH Tracker IV being shipped. Hobby Lobby price deal.

Doing some bench testing with the 100, impressed with the results using the 4" coil. Think it will and the other will work well for my wife, maybe for me too.
Tones will be interesting for her.

Since the control box is a muffler look a like, wife won't be too impressed. Opened the sucker up and found a nice small circuit board. It just begs to be put into a smaller control box,
think I may have just the right one.

Custom Tracker IV on the project board.

You're absolutely spot on! I've had 4 of them in one form or another. And here's the klinker-I once had a Teknetics Radrunner-still have the board-which had a version of the Tracker( tone break at zincers). The board is CREDIT CARD size. I've been on this size bandwagon ever since-especially since the meter is totally useless. No one listens.

Good for you Sven. You remember my Tracker project? Can't wait to see how yours turns out :)

As for the tones, I can set it to where I'm almost as accurate as any ID, without having to look at any meter.

Yup remember well.

to play around with one of the Trackers.

Actually have an older board and the new Tracker coming will have the SMT small board.

Started to rewire the board for new pots and switches. Canned the meter.

Dug around and the only control box I could find to fit this board was one for a vintage Gold Mountain detector.
This will be rear mounted under the armrest.
The new box is about 5 oz. lighter than the BH muffler.

Speaker will be side mounted as will be the headphone jack.

After all is said and done will make some decals for the box.

Here's a sneak preview

Sven-have you ever adjusted the g/b pot and , if so, which direction is positive? Thanks.

Positive should be clockwise. Have not attempted adjustment yet. Nor if it was properly set by some one else after it came from the factory.
Probably going to use a 10 turn external pot, since I have one here.

When I get the new Tracker, I can compare the two.
