New BH - New to the wonderful world of MD'ing!

Hey everybody!!!! As my subject heading states, I am indeed new to this hobby due to receiving a Tracker IV for my last birthday. I have always, ALWAYS wanted a metal detector; it only took a few decades...but I can honestly say: I am hooked. :clapping:

I don't know about anyone else, but I kind of get my feelings hurt when people I hunt with "trash-talk" the Bounty Hunter brand. On my very first time out, I was told, flat out, that my BH was more of a novelty and not a true metal detector.

Hmmph!!!

So, I looked on www.metaldetectorreviews.net and the BH Tracker IV got more stars (4.6 out of 5) than the Garrett 250 (4.2 out of 5). BTW: The guy who slammed my BH touted his Garrett 250 to be the best. Whatever...

Anyway, I am glad I found this forum, and so happy I have a hobby that probably won't make me a millionaire, but to me, the thrill is in the hunting.

Thanks for reading, and I look forward to exchanging ideas and getting help when I need it!

Peace~

In various competitions, the BH usually come in at the top of the heap, beating out machines that cost 4-5 times as much. It is much like downhill skiing where many participate using high-end equipment when they would most likely do just as well using two 2x4s strapped to their feet.

Thanks, Matthias and Mark. And Mark: that's how I feel as well. I am "holding my own" just fine. I guess I am not the first to experience this; good to know I am in great company!

Thanks again!

Peace~

The worst thing u can say to anybody about their detector , is it is a piece of crap, its just not appropriate, or humble in my opinion. I have a BH landstar , my Ace 250 is better in my experience but i dont know about Tracker 1V, its another model. It all comes with using your detector alot and listning to it , the beeps the boops . What I have found out about detetecting is, u gotta hunt alot and try and understand your machine, or u will start trash talking yourself, LOL.. GOOD LUCK

Don't pay attention to what others may think about your BH.Just take the time to learn what it is telling you and go out and have fun with it.Happy hunting.
