New BH detector (kinda)

Well, I won a Radio Shack 3015 which looks just like the Land Star. Never opened, still in box and paid $103 including headphones that are NIB also.

After reading the Land Star manual, I'm trying to figure out the unit before it gets here.

I thought GroundTrac automatically adjusted ground balance, but the manual says it is for retuning. Whats the advantage in use.

Also, can you ground balance by pumping the coil, or is this an auto reading GB feature?

And..............hows the recovery speed?

Thanks,

Dan

Recovery speed of the Land Star is excellent...The AutoTrac is for the all metal mode only...There is a trick for using it to narrow down your pinpointing...too much to discuss here right now. It has been so long since I have used the Land Star, that I cannot even remember the method used for Ground Balancing it...It is not like Ground Balancing a White's or Minelab though.

HH,

Nope. You have to raise the coil, push GroundTrac then lower to 1" from the ground. It's not bad, it's just that I am so used to Tesoro's and now have it listed in the classified to trade for one. Your right about the recovery speed though, I was able to pinpoint using it.
