Well the final version of the beach scoop that I have been working on for quite awhile is finally done. Joe DeMarco of DeMarco Detector Sales (a FindMall Sponsor) will be producing and selling the scoops. Here are some pix of the final version of the scoop.

The Scoop is Stainless Steel and is 12.5" long and 6" in diameter.
There is a footpad on the back to both strengthen the scoop and protect the rear mesh. The mesh is 1/2" square.
The rear footpad is placed in line with the mesh so as not to block the flow of sand through the scoop.
The scoop's handle is 48" long and is 1.25" Stainless Steel. The scoop is a bit on the heavy side weighing in at roughly 6.5lbs.
In designing this scoop I tried to make a scoop that is both durable, strong, and one where I had addressed as many of the problems that I have had with beach scoops in the past. A mesh scoop has always been my preferance for beach hunting due to it's easy of sifting. So far I ahve used this scoop in the very fine grained tight packed sand of Southern NJ as well as the large grained loose packed sand of the Central NJ Beaches and it has worked well in both locations.
If you are interested in one of these scoops contact Joe at DeMarco Detector Sales.
