OK so after much thought and mental debate, I did it! Even though I already own a "top of the line machine" I have just read too many good things about this detector and now that Garrett seems to have the bugs worked out I went ahead and pulled the trigger. So I had already read the owners manual, watched a ton of videos and read about every post in this forum when it arrived. I got to get out to an old school for a couple of hours the other day with a hunting buddy who also has a top of the line machine and an ATPro for his water hunting duties. We went over a small section of the yard pretty thouroughly both using our "other" brand top of the line machines. I first did a north to south grid and then went back over the same area east to west. I had gotten a lonely late model Wheat cent and alot of clad pennies through quarters, and a military button. Then I pulled out the ATPro for it's maiden voyage. I started going over the same area and the first signal I got mid 50's reading on the vdi and a good sounding mid-tone, dug a plug and pulled out a smashed childs ring. It was oval shaped but it was a ring that I had missed with the "other" machine and I had gone over that section fom 2 different directions digging all "good" signals, yes even tabs and I had already recovered several nickels. So I went on to find about 7 clad coins that I had missed. I still love the other machine and of course I know you can never find it all but I do believe that at least some of these signals were originally missed not because of carelessness but because of other factors. So I am very impressed with this machine and I plan to hunt with both of them because it can't hurt to hunt the same ground with different detectors as in my opinion they will compliment each other.

I think you should try it in reverse order next time and see what happens!! You might be surprised at how little is left for said "other" machine to find. I'm amazed every time I unleash my ATP and expect the same from my AT Gold on it's maiden voyage this weekend!!

Masked targets are very plentiful. The AT Pro just does a wonderful job on them. The discussion and questions are always depth depth depth. And now you know what some of us already figured out.

[size=large]one element that wasn't sold with the ATP was a bottle (large) of Motrin.you do dig more and feel it at home.

Great maiden hunt! Once you get comfortable using the tones in conjunction with the VDI numbers, your good finds should even improve more.

There ya go...the dealers need to offer a years supply of pain killers...lol...You do get sore...for me it is my back, knees and digging hand...No headaches, as I am too busy grinning...

HH,

I've been jumping back and forth on my next machine between the X-terra 705 and the AT Pro, but after discussing my needs with both companies, it's apparent the AT Pro is the better way for me. I live in western Pennsylvania and spend a few weeks at the Jersey shore every summer. End of the month, I order mine.
