New AT PRO

Rebel 012

New member
I just recieved my new AT PRO, cant wait to get out with it, I was wondering if there is one brand recommended above the others as far as the head phone adapter. There are a couple different ones on Ebay for sale, is there any down side to going this route other than the water proof issue?

Thanks for any help.

Didn`t your AT Pro come with headphones?

I installed the Garrett headphone adapter and recommend it if you do not plan on getting in the water past the control box and want to use standard 1/4 inch headphones  (it can be removed if water proof phones are needed) The adapter works great plus Garrett designed it for the AT Pro. Regular headphone are much easier to plug and unplug into the detector with the adapter over the water proof connection at the control box. It also puts the plug connection at the back of the arm cuff, less problems with tangles with the headphone cord, much better here in my opinion.

The At Pro works great with my Koss QZ99 noise reduction phones for surf use and noisy areas it also works great with the Killer Bee phones I have. I think any good quality headphone will do just fine on the AT Pro, pick your medicine when it comes to headphones.

[size=large]i got the impression that there's more than one adpter on the market. the question was whether there is a best brand adapter for the ATP. i've only heard of garretts brand. made for the ATP and maybe the Gold. then you get to use any headset with a 1/4" plug-in. is this correct?

The only ones I sean on E Bay were the Garrett Brand Adapters but there may be others out there..

I gotta get the adapter so I can use my wireless headphones again...I HATE being tethered to the machine...

HH,

Whoa......I'm not getting into much water at all. Do I need an adapter? I was kicking back and forth between the Minelab 705 and the AT Pro, and I am pretty sure I'm getting the AT Pro.....in about two weeks. I'm only the Jersey beaches about two-three weeks a year. Do I need an adapter at all?

Only if you do not want to use the supplied Garrett headphones...the jack is proprietary and can only accept normal headphones with the adapter.
